Very weird to see the latest amd processor paired with a 2050 thats 2 years old
If you're completely fine with the CPU and GPU of this, then you're only real thing to consider is the terrible screen the Victus models have.

I'm seriously leaning towards this. Is there absolutely any reason I shouldn't? For the price, I can't complain about the screen (though only 1080p at 15.6", it's 144Hz and IPS, 250 nits isn't great), and the processor is Zen3+, not that Ryzen 7000 but actually Zen2 bullcrap.
It's only pulling 35W TDP on the APU, and better efficiency than the i5s of this generation is nanoreview is to be believed. The 2050 probably makes graphics a bit better, but with the latest AMD APUs coming out, I kinda doubt it's stronger than those. That might be why this one dropped so far in price.
But considering the price! Is there any reason this one isn't one of the best options under $550?

To be fair at least 2050 is Ampere based not Turing, not saying it is great, but not as old as a 2060. I think Nvidia just don't have the balls to call it 3040 and it is better than 3030.

For the price it is a deal. Specs are good, Ram can be added. Just have to be sure about screen. User experience does improve with any improvement in screen. But then again, for the price absolutely a deal.

That plus only 4GB on the GPU makes it pretty lackluster, but it's not a bad deal depending on what the user wants.

Most people are browsing, homework and watching online content. 8gb is good enough.

8 is fine for general use, but it's upgradeable so it doesn't exactly matter that it comes with 8.

I was considering getting it for my dad. He's by no means a gamer, and probably doesn't do anything even close. He's been using a 10 year old laptop up until now, so I just wanted to get him something better.
I saw a Vivobook 16 with an i5-12400 and an OLED screen for $550 but I missed it during Prime day... Not sure if I should be going towards strong performance, battery life, or screen if he wants to use a laptop for 7+ years again. I'm thinking about this one because the chip seems really efficient and if he decides to do anything a little heavier on it, the 2050 should carry him a little farther than just the ryzen chip.

3 things to note: The lid is very wobbly, the fans make more of a whine noise than a whoosh noise, and I think this model only has 1 m.2 slot.

This isn't a "bad deal" in terms of value of components, it's just a bad laptop. For $500 you can get a variety of laptops that do at least something well, this... doesn't

What is up with HP and Dell choosing those terrible 250 nit screens? If Chuwi can be the anti-Dell and anti-HP by building laptops with great screens but Intel Gen 8 processors and sell them at half the price, then HP and Dell should be able to use better screens and still stay at a similar price point.
