I have an open box-satisfactory about 30 miles away for $350. I'm new to PC gaming but I'm under the impression this is a better deal than the other cheap PC gaming deals in this under $500 range. Debating buying it...doubt I do any better at this price.

It's a great price for a starter. I bought this and could've gotten better. You can't beat the price especially when you can add more ram and space

I was able to upgrade with this without any issues.

I thought it would be a big upgrade from my 10 year old PC. It's not. I'm going to sell it.

Anyone know if I can add 8gb more ram?
Just pulled out the 8GB stick and loaded a 64GB kit, don't plan to ever upgrade the memory again Smilie

The main NVMe M.2 drive is 2242, which is very rare. At least for mine there is no way to install a long drive. I found a YouTube video of someone installing a longer drive, but it's physically impossible on mine.

There is a second NVMe M.2 slot for a 2280; however, you'll need to buy a stand-off kit, since it does not come with one. Super cheap on Amazon.

If you have a SATA SSD (the big square one) the laptop comes with a caddy and SATA adapter cable for that, too.

I was able to easily install a second 2280 drive and move all of my folders over to that, so the main drive is only for the OS and program files and such.

//

I did have issues adding 32 GB of RAM. I had a G.Skill 16GB stick from 2021 that I swapped in without issue (never opened before I got this laptop). When I ordered another identical stick (2023) and installed it - BSOD. I exchanged it and the second stick gave me the same issue. KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE. The 2021 stick worked in EITHER sodimm slot; the others didn't work in either.

It seems odd that two sticks from G.Skill would be bad, but who knows.

//

Finally, my laptop was NOT in excellent condition. In fact, only a scratched up laptop was in the plain box; no charger, literally nothing else. I eventually got them to exchange it for a brand new laptop for the same $435 I paid for the open box excellent, but that was extremely lucky on my part!!! YMMV.

That's not the issue, the issue is that the battery loses some power while gaming in a performance profile, even while plugged in. People are saying the AC Adapter should have been 170 watts and not the 135 that was included.

I have this as well. I use it for gaming and browsing. What I love about it is that it doesn't get super loud with the fan unlike another gaming laptop I tried out. What I don't like is that the screen wobbles easily if it is bumped or moved. It's a minor inconvenience. Overall, I love it. I upgraded to 32gb ram and added a 2 TB SSD and it was very easy. I would definitely buy it again and I'm tempted to get a second at this price.

I remember some Microsoft surface and Microsoft Book products with the same issue, in performance mode under load it discharge faster than power brick can supply power. MS solution was not to use performance mode.
