This is a nice deal for sure leveraging the sale price with the 250 off coupon, but it's an odd placement even at ~$400 each.

I think this deal makes more sense if you have two separate usages where one good quality 10" would be enough for each room, maybe split an order with a buddy or a "regular" person being happy with a living room and basement pair in one shot. But then you've still got a lot of options to consider around $400 per sub.

A room big enough to need a pair of 10" subs would likely be better suited to larger subs to start. It's not like these are a compact 10" model or anything like that. Once you are ok with big boxes in the room you might as well go all in with larger drivers.

All in all subs are always a tough choice. I just struggle thinking where two of these at $800 would be the best choice for one room.

Dual subs are not purely about filling a room of a given size. It's also about compensating for the inability for perfect subwoofer placement and overall increased sound quality.

May want to peruse the last few pages of the monolith owners thread on AVS Forums. Reliability doesn't seem to be included in the price of these subs. Monoprice is responsive apparently.

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...0/page-205

For an alternative RSL has blemished Speedwoofer 10S MKIIs in white available for $399. It let me add a pair to my cart and no tax in GA. I emailed about these and these are factory cosmetic blemished not returns. Final sale no returns but carry the full warranty.

https://rslspeakers.com/product/s...final-sale

The wireless option for $50 extra seems nice. I ordered one in black and I should have it Friday.

Like I said others like yourself will say they haven't had any issues. Where as others that's not the case. So it's only fair people are aware of the issue. I've had my fair share of problems with the Monoprice 15v2. And so has my coworker.

Not trying to be argumentative or cause any arguments. Just spreading awareness of the issues.
And I am telling you an absolutely true story
By the way I have also owned a Monolith 7X amp for 3 years and no issues there either

I am speculating as I dont have any figures to share...but I would say that Monoprice has sold a LOT of subs and separate amplifiers.
The price to performance ratio is off the charts

By the way..and I am sure you know...there are a lot of people on AVS forum that have had similar experiences as I have with owning multiple Monoprice pieces and no issues.
Am I receiving the level customer service I receive from Arcam?..NO..But I didnt expect it either and frankly its " good enough" for the price to performance ratio for simplicity of the product
Quote from thehundredsslc :
Though it may be a small percentage. It's still an issue to be aware of and take into consideration. People are now starting to think Monoprice is selling returned subs as new subs. All of ithese things being said about these subs are starting to become red flags. Probably explains how they can get away with these kinds of pricing.
I dont disagree ...but taken into consideration from a reliable source who has experience with the product
That was my point earlier. There is a LOT of heasay
For instance..where would someone come up with the idea that they bought a "new" sub and it was not new
Frankly..I have bought two open box ones and I could not tell one of them was not new..and the other had a small 1/2" mar in the finish.
For half price and sitting in a dark corner, I was good

How are these compared to SVS? Or any monoprice sub compared to SVS? Thanks.
They are about in line with the PB1000's (non pro). Solid deal for $799 in the right size room (under 1500 cu FT wood framed should do pretty well). I would opt for a better single sub in a basement or larger room and plan for a second one later on though. To integrate multiple subs you really want to plan for a MiniDSP and UMIK or similar to get the most out of them as well.

They each have there pros and cons, it will come down to preference.

If it's a blind buy , you can't go wrong with either both are good brands.

Even if they were basically equal in terms of performers, get the svs for the excellent customer service.

I have to disagree. Having two subs placed in different locations tends to work better acoustically for most rooms. It helps to lesson the node/antinode extreme.

Like I said I actually own 4 and have had a couple of them for a few years
I have done a lot of research, before and I after I bought them from actual owners

I am not the only one

I am quite certain there are issues...but for some reason the hearsay is pretty ridiculous on these subs
All four of mine are V1 by the way. The V2 had not even come out when I purchased the first three units

As far as after sales support I have had much worse. with.Samsung...about the same with Denon/Marantz and a much better level from Arcam
Having only owned 4 out of all the owners out there is a tiny sample size for comparison. There are many, many people complaining, including SD'ers on here. While it's great that you are sharing your experience on here, don't dismiss all of the other people who share their personal experience just because it's not the same as yours.

I am not dismissing anyone

Before I bought any Monolith subwoofer or amp I spent a significant amount of time reaching out to actual owners on AVS forum
Were there some issues?...sure

But not anywhere close to all the heasay that one can see posted here and elsewhere
Thats my point

As I stated before...I have no idea how many have been sold so I really cant speak to a failure rate with anything but speculation. As you can probably tell I dont really care to specualte when its not necessary.

To use a perfect example from SD...people complain in every Hisense and TCL TV thread about failed product

If their situations are true...people still seem to be very interested in those brands

I bought a 10" used from FB marketplace. After a month or so it went to the red/green flashing. It was after I came home from vacation and there was a power outage the day before getting back. I was able to contact the seller and have him process a warranty, which was quick and as painless as it could be for an ~80 lb sub. What's interesting is the red/green flashing would go away after the capacitors were drained (after unplugging) and then when it was plugged back in, it would work for 1-4 hours and go back to red/green flashing.

I have a suspicion that a power surge is what caused the amp to go bad. I placed the new one on a true one-outlet surge protector I bought from amazon (not a power strip which claims to surge protect) and I haven't had any issues yet even with going through a couple power outages. Here's to hoping it stays that way. I believe I read somewhere that some of these plate amps don't have proper protection built in and causes some components to go bad.

That being said, I love these subs. Super powerful for the price.

I highly doubt the power surge took out your amp. The amp issue is an actual issue on in itself. And you stating that you read somewhere some of plate amp dont have proper protection just solidifies the poor quality of monoprice sub. And that some poor unlucky guy is gonna have to go through the hardship of dealing with there horrendous customer service.

OOS boss :*(. Honestly, I'm holding out for an open box. I ordered the $599 V1 2x but it kept getting cancelled. Lol. Hoping to grab 2 M-12 open boxes when they appear.

Is it even worth spending $800 on a sub-woofer? 🤔
