The 65" QN90B is $1600 at Best Buy. Hardly the same price as the TCL or Hisense. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6500634

There is an oddity on Amazon with the U8H and the U8K. The U8H is available with free delivery/unpack and instant returns, while the U8K only has free delivery. You would think it should be the other way around, given the cost of each set. The QM8 has the deluxe delivery and unpack.

Deluxe Delivery and Unpack
FREE
Enjoy professional delivery and unpacking of your new item in the room of your choice.
Our professional service providers will unpack your new item, inspect it for any visible damage or missing parts, and place it in your desired location if no defects or damage are found.
For safety, the service provider will not move your new item to a different location after it's been unpacked.
The service provider will clean up their work area and take all packaging materials away with them when they leave, including the box and its contents if applicable, unless you'd prefer to keep them.
This purchase is eligible for Instant Returns. Not the right fit? Return it on the spot upon delivery.

Has TCL fixed the Google TV interface lag issue on these? My 2022 TCL 5 series google TV is very laggy. Their Roku TVs are much better.
I rarely had lag issues on my TCL 6 Series TV but I turned on "App only" mode though. I did buy a Roku Ultra because some apps did not work on the Google side after blocking ads at the router level

I agree with you somewhat...except I think its more complicated than that.
Viewing angles, panel uniformity, blooming

However...I dont understand the value of this TV when people are buying Samsung QN90B's for the same price

I can see the Hisense U8H at $799....but not sire $1199 makes sense for this TV
Well, of course, every single spec can come into play. I am simply saying there are plenty of people who should be looking at OLED and not MLED or looking at MLED and not OLED simply based on viewing environment and burn-in risk for their use case. I have many large windows which I like to keep the blinds at least semi if no fully open during the day, which is when most of my TV use is, for that reason alone OLED is out for me. On the other hand someone in a dark basement probably should be considering nothing but OLED models.

I really can't comment on the Samsung for the same price as I pretty much only pay attention to TV models that run Android TV. I haven't heard nearly as much buzz about the Samsung as I have about the QM8, but very possible I am missing something.

I own both OLED and LCD
There are different uses that make them stand out.
I dont think OLED burn in a huge deal anymore unless you have static logos on for hours a day
I will typically watch daytime TV on a Sony LCD I have above the fireplace in my greatroom
But it very rare that I watch movies on an LCD...watching an OLED has gotten me extremely sensitive to blooming and off angle viewing color/brightness changes when watching LCD

As for the Samsung QN90B... according to rtings.com its a better set than the TCL QM8 or the Hisense U8H
There is a thread here on it for $1199 that is front page, hence the reason I said I dont see how the TCL is priced where it is. I understand the Hisense U8H pricing though and it makes sense
I would speculate that TCL and Hisense mostly compete against each other.

From rtings:

"The TCL QM8/QM850G QLED and the Samsung QN90B QLED are similar TVs, although the TCL is slightly better than the Samsung regarding contrast and brightness, making it the punchier TV overall. The Samsung does, however, have a much better viewing angle and better sharpness processing when upscaling low-resolution content, so it's the better TV to watch sports or TV shows with friends."

Key words here for my viewing environment

You also missed this part comparing the two from rtings.com

" It's also less buggy than the TCL, which is full of strange quirks"

As I said before...I am a big fan of better picture processing and better viewing angles
For the same price ..there would be no question I would buy the Samsung

Great, sounds like the Samsung is for you. But I see no reason to think one is a better value overall, as the TVs are absolutely in the same ballpark.

For my preferences..I dont think they are and the quirkiness mentioned by rtings.com gives me pause as well

For the same price its an easy Samsung decision, for me

For the Hisense U8H price of $300 ish less it could be compelling

For people not playing videogames the U8H is probably the best bang for the buck when it comes to MLED.

Yes, I'd gain the benefits of HDMI 2.1, which as a gamer is a big deal. The TCL is also brighter, with better contrast, many more dimming zones handling darks better, and less blooming. Being that I don't upscale I'd essentially be giving up better motion handling to get those picture improvements. That's how I see it from the research I am done but happy to hear the opinions of others.
The MOST important part of a picture is processing, this will be an extreme step down from your Sony.

Motions Handling is literally everything, from sports, movies to video gaming.

This TV will have poor picture processing and in gaming Ghosting.

I have this TV for my entertainment room, I also have QN90B downstairs. I use them both daily depending on the room we chill, I 100% prefer TCL it just looks better for me. Brighter and better colors, I also find speakers better sounding than the Samsung. I use Apple tv 4k on all my TVs so don't really care about the TV software but nothing can be worst than Tizen anyways.

It's a great set, and is why I have been able to sustain with it for so long, and if it had 2.1 I'd probably sit tight with it for a few more years at least. But aside from the 2.1 by grabbing this TCL I'd be getting:

Better reflection handling
Better input lag
Better black and grey uniformity
Better color volume
Better color gamut
Better brightness, 2000 vs 1500
Better contrast, 114k:1 vs 7k:1

While losing color accuracy and motion handling

I think the HDMI 2.1 makes it worthwhile alone but the other spec increases are making it easier for me to talk myself into it as well.
For $1200, you can snag a Samsung S95B QD-OLED, one of the best reviews on the rtings and they rate it at the top of the list! Granted, S95B goes in/out of stock in samsung.com but if you are lucky and have patience, you may get it.

I got S95B delivered yesterday and it's stunning, to put it mildly!
