I have one. The battery started to suck after 2 years. I used to charge it whenever I wasn't using it like the manual says but I was reading the comments and someone said to plug in a few hours before you're going to mow and that's actually been working pretty good for me.
Nope end of season is coming and the batteries they come with are trash even for lead acids, buy the cheapest and smallest battery capacity version at year end and convert it to lithium.
Got this for $500 several months ago. Wouldn't pay anymore than that. I know going to have to do the battery replacement eventually and have had for less than 6 months and already having problems not holding a charge. Once do battery swap will be happy with it I believe. Because does mow great and is quite. But like I said, I know about to put more money into it and I fine since I didn't pay alot for it. If I paid more, would be pissed
This thing used lead acid batteries. Only lasts an year or 2 according to the reviews.
I'm on year 3 with 70% capacity still. They're kinda like golf carts with blades on them, so you take care of them the same way. You HAVE to keep them on the charger, and it's best to keep from completely draining the battery.
The battery packs are basically 4 marine-style batterys in sequence. You can take the drawer out (it's heavy- you'll need a cart) and test each battery with a tester. You can then take any bad batteries to a local battery store and they'll give you $10-$30 for the core, then a new one is around $160. I just did that this year and I'm back to 100%. Will probably get another 2-3 years out of the remaining batteries.
I mow about 1 acre and I absolutely love this thing. It's fast, it cuts very well, and it's easy to control. I've had zero maintenence with anything so far other than replacing one battery. At this price I'd highly recommend!

I've had the exact opposite experience, but I'm pretty religious with battery tending. Do you plug it in as soon as you're done with it? How far do you let the battery drain while using it? Do you keep it in a garage, in a shed, or outdoors?
I'm on year 4 batteries still like new. Don't drain below 50% and disconnect charger after charging is complete. Then charge again right before you want to mow again. Recharge as soon as you are done mowing. Simple.
I have the 42 inch version of this. I bought from a reseller and swapped with 100ah lifepo4. Using the factory batteries for a diy solar setup.
I wouldn't pay 3500 for It but it you can get it for That price after factoring in lifepo4 swap (another 1200ish) it is a brilliant machine. Bonus if you can repurpose the factory batteries like I did

I looked into that but it was like $1800 for that. While I found Li mowers zero turn for around $4000. Seems to me it would be better to just buy one that came with the batteries and chargers and such. It was not on sale and was 60V 8 AH six batteries. 2.5 acres.
I would not even consider this unless it went down to $2000. The Greenworks 60 was 42" but it also goes up to 8 MPH.
