6750 XT is a powerful card that I've been using to run games at 1440p at 100+ fps. Check the specs and comparisons to other Nvidia and AMD cards if you're doubtful.
I don't fault your thinking tho, GPU pricing has been so wild these last few years it's hard to imagine prices finally coming back down to earth.
Those wondering if you should get this card for all purpose 1440p gaming, I fully recommend. I purchased the 2-fan Mech version of this card, used it for a month and swapped it for the 3-fan Gaming version. My honest take, all 6750xt cards will provide similar performance. Coming from a RX570 4gb, the performance increase is night and day.

Or get this card. What CPU do you have though?
This card would do really high fps 1080p gaming, so if your CPU is really old, it won't keep up.
It was the triple fan gaming X trio and was the best deal around at the time. Got it off Amazon for $330 along with a R7-5700 for a $1140 1440p rig

If your bios is up to date and you're near a microcenter toss in a 5600x3d, should net you better frames and speed all around or go for broke and a 5800x3d
You could get a 5600 for a 100 dollars when you are ready and that CPU would pair great with this GPU on the value side of things and of course a 5800x3d is a beast but is a bit overkill for this GPU.
