I didn't know that. There's a thing called Flex Mode where you can run different sized modules in dual channel. The two modules will run in dual channel while the remainder of the larger module will run in single channel.

for a bit of clarification, say you have an 8 GB module and a 4 GB module installed. 4 GB of each module will operate in dual channel while the remaining 4 GB of the 8 GB module will run in single channel operation/speed. I didn't know this changed with DDR5

Edit: just looked it up. No difference with DDR5.
Flex technology still applies in this scenario
Bought the i9-12900h model with qhd 1tb ssd and rtx 3070ti for 988 after tax from bestbuy about a month ago for open box excellent. Think that was a much better deal
The fan was super loud during gaming, probably one of the noisiest laptops I've ever owned. Other than that, everything works great. You can upgrade only one stick of RAM and there's an extra M.2 SSD slot for an SSD upgrade.

Quote from dkstrick :
Is it the first gaming laptop you've heard? They all sound like jet engines when gaming it's not just this model.

Used many over the years. This is by far the loudest. The last one I had was an Alienware R15. I do expect loud fans when gaming, but this one is in a class by itself.
