I guess some people do use these for gaming and other uses, and they might work for you. I am strickly using them for archive. I backup my stuff, unplug drive and put in closet or other storage place. So hours on my 5TB is very low. These drives are SRM drives and not as good as CRM drives, different way to write to drive.
Now, I did buy some of these WD 5TB portables in feb 2023 for 55 dollars that were recerts directly from WD. It was Ebay's WD site.

I guess you can look at that thread. At the time, that is considered best price, other threads might have had a price close to that, I looked, but other threads product was cancelled, or they only had a few at that price. The thread I gave had 500 units on sale at that price. I stocked up. No problems with any of them. And I already shared how I use them. Again, you might use them for other stuff, I have no experience with other uses.
