I paid $22 or this in 2020 and feel it was a waste of money. If you have an age/health related condition that prevents you from digging out a weed using a more traditional manner, then it might be worth it. Also it is not precise when digging a weed from grassy areas so you will end up taking out big chunks of grass with it.
This thing is awesome.
Got one the last time it was a fp deal. Works well in grass, and yes as others have mentioned, it does pull up a bit of dirt and creates a small hole/divot. Even so i still prefer it to bending down all the time. Doesnt work with the tiny weeds or ones that are right at the edge of cement or coming up between rock landscaping though, so it's not a use all weed puller

Been this price of awhile. I bought a cheap $15 one that is surprisingly sturdy but this Fiskars is better both ergonomically, functionally and the ejector is nice. Works great on crabgrass, thistle, stuff like that.

If you're a real cheapskate and don't have much square footage to weed, and don't mind bending over you can just wet the earth and pull with your gloves or a pair of big pliers, though. The ergonomic benefit is enough for me to keep the fiskar's because I sometimes have to weed family's bigger areas. The cheapo is getting returned.

It does pull out a plug of earth, which is a pita.

I have had one for 3 or 4 years now and love it. Considering buying another as a backup.

My yard had a ton of weeds and this tool is much more efficient vs mechanically squatting/standing/moving on loop.
You do not need a backup. It is a lifetime warranty . Mine broke after 7 years, got a replacement w/o issue. Highly recommended.

Got one also. Good for medium sized weeds. For larger sized crabgrass, may take 2-3 tries. Still beats pulling them out by hand. The ejector function is pretty useful.

Haven't tried this kind of design but the constant turning of the handle looks like a repetitive injury waiting to happen. I know the twist-style do generally come well recommended.

Tough call. Best I can tell Grampa's weeder isn't made in USA or in the West at all, hard to see for certain. Given it's all cheap overseas manufacturing, I would get the fiskar's for better ergonomics and lifetime warranty.

I imagine if you took your time, using a water hose and soaking weeds for 2 min, maybe multiple times while going around the yard, you can soak the earth enough for the whole root to come up. Personally, I just use a garden knife and get most of the roots out, buying me a month or 2 before they reemerge,

I'm skeptical of some of these positive reviews. At the bottom of the weeder, that little extended piece is made of plastic. If you put any kind of real pressure on it, it snaps like a twig. Might be OK if you have a soft lawn, but in any kind of dense soil, it's guaranteed to break. Though they will send you another one free.
