I found this out by accident but removing the diffuser significantly increases the overall brightness of these bulbs. If you are buying these for fixtures with frosted covers or a lamp with a shade or any situation where you are unlikely to ever have a different view of the bulb then you might want to give it a try before buy a higher watt bulb.

Wish 100W would be on sale. 60W are no go in Hue - too dim!

I thought that the upgrade in wattage only really impacts the white gradients it puts out?

Why are these bulbs so expensive? Not knocking them, I just don't understand. I have a bunch of smart bulbs and none of them were even $10, let alone $26, or the supposed retail of over $45 apiece.
Philips Hue has a large ecosystem of products/app that all work well together. Great features, like partnerships with Spotify, Hue Sync, programmable entertainment areas, full remote access, etc. Great reliability over cheap generic Amazon brands.

It's definitely a premium price. I only purchase during excellent sale/clearance times but have accumulated a couple dozen lights over time for a fraction of retail pricing.

Right? I've tried nearly every type of smart bulb, from Govee, Kasa, urlhasbeenblocked, etc. I did find one thing... only certain higher priced brands of bulbs support the gradual dim over 60m option on Alexa smart routines.

I hear great things about Hue... but what's the biggest difference in functionality? I heard someone got theirs to blink when they got an email... I'm not sure.

Compared to 100W on sale for 22$ each around holidays, I don't think this is very slick.

These were just $89 2 days ago. I was looking bc my kids decided to destroy one of mine. Well, the silver screw part broke off. to add, hue just works. I've had them going for a long time now and have never had an issue. no messing around in app or disconnects.

The 100w color was $22? Sounds too good to be true.

That's because it is and I'm dumb.
I was thinking of the 4 pack of 75w, which came out to 22$ each last year some time.

You have to buy at least Echo Dot Clock ($47) to get Hue bulb bundled option.
Oops.. you're right. The echo show 5 for 42.99 includes one. Still not bad if you need 3x echo shows!

A big issue with this approach is that you void the warranty, which is kind of an issue with bulbs this expensive.

I didn't even know that was a thing. Not sure I need it (fine without it and never thought of it), but of course I'll have to look into it now.

I see some for a low price I'll pick them up. This is not that, in my book. I get the desire to stick to an ecosystem, as it makes some things easier, but I've never wished my light bulbs would do anything they don't do now so I'll stick with the collection of Kasa, Lenovo, and no-name bulbs I have already in place. I just want to be able to vary the color temp and have them turn on and off via voice commands and schedules, not integrate with apps and whatnot that I don't use. Thanks for the answer.

Can argue with that. But if you have a bulb that's older than the two year warranty you might be inclined to give it a try.

you can adjust the level of lights and it's durable without problems. always responsive and works very well with apple ecosystem
