If you're after Dirac Live with no preference, only need 9 channels with no preouts and ok mono subs this is a great price!

I know this is off topic but I only need a 5 channel receiver and was hoping to get a recommendation. I definitely don't need 9 channels. Thanks and sorry for the off topic post.

If you only need 5 channels I would suggest looking for a used receiver that has the features you need.
With everyone upgrading to "Atmos" you can get great deals on slightly older receivers for way less.

Great receiver. Has worked flawlessly for my use case. And I paid full price when it first came out.

The Denon 960/970 is a great entry level receiver.

You can get 5ch pretty cheaply. I have an old solid state Pana that is now 15 years old and is great for surround sound video. Not my preference for music as it is a bit harsh, but still not unpleasant by any means.
If you want to go for movie surround, I strongly suggest you consider 7.1 which adds two additional speaks behind the listener. I was surprised what it added. Plus you can get cheap speakers for those channels. I got a set of Mirage Nanosats (used) for about $25/each and they blow Bose out of the water - and Bose is much disparaged, but their stuff is definitely pretty good.

Thanks for the reply, along with the others that replied as well, but I don't have room for the extra two speakers in the room I'm going to set this up in. But I appreciate the information in the event I set up one in a different room.

Amazing deal for DIRAC Calibration. It's game changing. Perfect for anyone looking to build a 5.4.2 atmos system.
