Yes. This Kwikset uses the "SmartKey" system and you can key it to match existing locks in your home.
No is the short answer. You will also need a Zwave hub, like smartthings, an echo that has it enabled or something like hubitat. You may also need internet. I run smartthings at home.

I have zwave running for several years. What chip is this using and would it really matter vs new ones?

These lock works with the ring home hub if you already have it. I have 2 kwikset locks connected to my ring app via the hub.
