Just a note for anyone unfamiliar with Caseta: this version is for the 250 watt dimmer and is probably overkill for most home applications. The 150 watt version is less expensive (still pricy). It took me a while to figure out why folks thought this was a deal, when the normal price for the 150 watt version is less than this.
These are hard wired into the wall. So if the cloud goes down you can still use them as regular light switches with all their typical features.

As for the cloud... Well initial setup requires internet, but after that it should work as long as the hub is working. Overall anything voice controlled etc. is gonna require the internet unless you want to spend a lot of time setting up custom stuff.

In general switch control is instant. Voice/app which does require internet (unless maybe you use their app) requires internet which will always lead to lag.

IMO they are far more reliable than the philips hue lights which is the next best reliable smart home lightbulb product in my experience.

Also... these and philips hue have been around long enough I'm reasonably confident they will continue to be supported they both are made by a well respected established company with a decent history of supporting things. I specifically have limited my smart devices to those since they seem the most likely to get continued support. They serve a different purpose... philips hue for when I want color and/or individual bulb control not tied to a circuit. Lutron for white lights and ones I want to ensure stay fully reliable with their hardwiring manual control for safety such as entry way lights.

If you are using the logic of they have only been around 3-4 years very few tech products except iphones would make sense to buy. Which if that is your belief ok... but I am doubtful with that criteria that you will ever purchase anything.
The Diva dimmers are much prettier and easier to use than this older style.

In for one of the motion sensor switches though, been meaning to get something like that for our laundry room.

Yes but to clarify you're talking about completely different models and use cases. The PD-6WCL is 150W, correct, but requires no neutral wire and is not meant for ELV applications. I have these for my recessed lighting.

The PD-5NE is specifically designed for ELV applications like under cabinet LED strips which require a dedicated LED driver.

The reason I bought this one a long time ago, even though it is overkill for my application, is that as far as I can tell it's the only single location Caseta dimmer that has the preset button in the middle allowing you to easily get to a brightness that isn't "full on" with a single click like you can from a Pico
I just noticed that it has the preset button in the middle - I'm installing (what I think is probably overkill) LED can lights in my kitchen, and the preset button is probably the way to go with this install - thanks for pointing that out!

Ah just saw your new comment. Even for line-voltage dimming (ie. replacing a switch with a dimmer), there are many different types of dimming technologies. Even just as basic as Forward Phase vs. Reverse Phase dimming [erp-power.com]. ELV dimmers like this deal is reverse phase, which is more expensive to build technology wise, but generally more compatible with more LED. There are likely other electronic components that deals with minimum load, which is important for LED fixtures that is low wattage and fundamentally an electronic device. And finally.....there are no standards for how LEDs are built, so the compatibility matrix is a huge mess. Sucks for us consumers.
I ended up buying this and it works! No longer flickering. I had no idea it didn't come with the built-in ability to work this with Alexa which was the whole point of me buying this. Is there a version of this switch that comes with the smart hub? I spent $73 on a light switch and the hub is even more expensive for another $70. It looks like I can buy this alternate version of the switch that comes with the hub [amazon.com] but it doesn't have the button in the middle which saves your preferred dimmed option.

The switch in the bundle you linked is not the switch in this deal, as you noted. The switch in the bundle does not require a neutral - it may be that the switch in this deal that does require a neutral is what fixed your flickering issue, and that the switch in the bundle which does not require a neutral will cause your flickering to return, but I am just speculating.

Lutron's Caseta line requires their proprietary hub to connect it to your smart home as you discovered. There are other dimmer switches out there that work with WiFi and require a neutral, but I can't say that they would solve your flickering issue.

TP Link has a Kasa branded WiFi based smart dimmer that requires a neutral - I have a number of then in my house with LEDs and they don't flicker, but YMMV. I also just confirmed that my Kasa dimmers will return to the dimming level they were set to when last used.
