Ridge Tools got it's name from Ridgeville Ohio, where it was started.
Lifetime Warranty and Lifetime Service Agreement are different things. Product is not defective if it wears out from excessive use. Under the LSA that would be covered
If you had 3 other shop vacs, why were you borrowing it. 🤔

I just had a Mandela effect moment. Out of curiosity, I went to look up some information on their partnership with Home Depot. Apparently, it's "Ridgid" and not "Rigid"

https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/

I don't know if it was someone here on Slickdeals who did it, but somebody did something that altered our timeline. I don't know what other changes they caused, but this is one of them.

I recently got rid of this unit, it is abnormally loud, so much so it hurts. Suction was ok but not great. My prior Ridgid was great and lasted many years but I had left it outside for awhile.

How does it compare with SunJoe 16 Gallon vac that was available at walmart?

The majority of Ridgid vacuums are made by Emerson Electric. The only one that
I know of that is not made by Emerson, is the hand vac, and that is made by TTI.
Yes they are under the Ridgid Red umbrella. That means any issues bring it in for an exchange. Unlike the LSA which makes you send the tool to a repair place. Way better warranty in my opinion.

For that price it's a no brainer. I've been borrowing a friend's and it's one of the best sucking ones I've dealt with. The 2.5" inch hose is mandatory, so shit doesn't get stuck a lot.

It's a great shop vac been remodeling a house. I just bought one to give him a brand new one and I'll keep the borrowed one since I probably have more time on it then him.

I would pay full price for this if you needed it, so it's a bargain. If I didn't already have 3 other shop vacs I would probably buy another at this price.

This is an *excellent* deal. Suction is fantastic so I don't know what these other folks are talking about. I use it around the shop for cleaning up woodshavings, and have used it in multiple flood cleanups as well. It is quite loud, but I think all of these shopvacs are. I wear ear protection when I'm using it.

I got one at home and it is awesome. Unfortunately Rigid filters are expensive.

You need the muffler/diffuser accessory for the exhaust port.

I have the same question. Bought the SunJoe but still holding out for a higher quality option. Should I buy this or wait till Black Friday?

I'm in the same boat as you both. At least the SunJoe from walmater is "Return eligible until Jan 31." If I see anything between now and then, I'll scoop it up and return the sunjoe.

Ridgid NXT does not have Lifetime Service Agreement. It's an entry level brand made in conjunction with Delta.
NXT is the term for the newest generation of vacs it does not mean "entry level". It absolutely does have a lifetime warranty and LSA because it's purchased from Home Depot directly.

This comment confirms it: https://slickdeals.net/f/17008726-ridgid-16-gallon-5-0-peak-hp-nxt-wet-dry-shop-vacuum-with-filter-locking-hose-and-accessories-hd1640-60?p=166538530#post166538530

Ahhhh, 5 peak hp.

@120v 1 HP = 750 watts. The ol' 3750W / 31A shop vac.

Why does every measurement in the tool world have to exist to confuse people? Why not use a metric that actually makes sense?
1Hp = 735W

There are many different horsepower formulas. I can tell you with certainty that 1 electrical HP = 746 watts.

I used 750 for ease of math.

While I am not certain, I think you are trying to use metric horsepower which has nothing to do with electrical horsepower. But thank you for posting up your wrong fact .

Highly recommend having a shop vac if you are a homeowner. I have a Ridgid (not sure if it is this exact model) and it has saved me when things go bad (vacuum up bathroom flooded by overflowing bath tub, clean up glass from broken window, etc)
