but for anyone concerned if it is discontinued or unsupported, it's still a "current" model:
"Roku is currently manufacturing these products and they are fully supported."

If you don't use plex or any PC to roku streams this is a bit overkill for apps. Most apps compress the hell out of their stuff to keep the bandwidth down so their 4k would have no issues over wifi unless you have a lot of people streaming or gaming etc concurrently.

Purple box does not need a memory card. The previous blue box one did though.
The buttons on our Roku Ultra (non LT) for our other TV are starting to get very insensitive so this year I might buy this just to replace the remote.

...edit: Bought this to use when I head to FL in winter.
I was a Roku household and upto a year or so ago got those random hdmi HDCP messages. I did all the firmware upgrades but it was of no help.
I also upgraded my TVs firmware as well.

1. change / swap hdmi cable with good cable and test
a. if after a week, good cable seems to work fine and no issues, cable connects was oxidized
2. if changing cable didn't help, put brace in back of cable or on side of tv to to prevent hdmi port from flexing/straining from weight of cable. might have to get creative (multiple layers of painters tape works wonders)
a. if after a week this works, port is simi damaged or loose and would need to be replaced/fixed/changed ( ie: new tv/ av reciever)
usually for me, one of the two usually works and i know my next course of action. but then again, after finding this out, i just brace my cables in one way, shape or form and haven't had this issue again.
so much more you can do with it and supports everything
