Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

If you do sell the phone early its locked to the straight talk account its active on. You have go on website and click remove device so it can be activated on different straight talk account.
What happens if you never associate a phone with your account? Is it forever restricted for use on ST by someone else?

Credit card charge back. They never delivered the plans?
The agent pushed chargeback for a phone and plan that I never received. Imagine if they later refunded me just the phone $49 and I guess I am out of the $45 plan.

If I want cancel and refund, I should get my money back for both.

Try looking under "Manage Lines" and then under "Devices".
Scroll down a bit and there should be a button to "Remove from Account".

That said, I had to engage a Tracfone CSR to remove some devices from my old TF account, as the capability was somehow restricted. I suspect that ST will be the same, as their website is extremely flaky.

Got two of these tonight at a local store. One question: when you are setting up the phones in order to send the unlock text, do you use your normal apple account for set-up, or do you create a new, temp account? These phones are for others and I'd rather not tell them until the 60 days are up. Thanks

if its not properly activated instore it won't unlock.

It does ask for Apple ID but you can skip it which was hard to find on setup.

I set them up manually without using an Apple ID and without setting up a new one. It can be done, but it's not particularly obvious. Once that is done and the phone is active on TFW, they should send you a welcome text from 611611 with your phone number.

So Walmart employees aren't being truthful if they said it ended yesterday. You can literally go to the Straight Talk website homepage for the deal and click more details and this is what it says:

"Offer valid 11/6/23-11/26/23 while supplies last. Must activate on Straight Talk plan in-store at your local Walmart. Limit of two devices per customer. Offer not available for Family (Multiline) plans. Straight Talk is a registered trademark of TracFone Wireless, Inc., a Verizon company. ©2023 TRACFONE. © 2023 Apple"
The Walmart guy I talked to today seemed to genuinely believe the deal ended on Sunday. That was consistent with what another WM specialist told me on Sunday evening. He showed me on his phone some WM flyer/memo with the validity dates indicating the deal was good from 11/6 to 11/12. I had to push back with the ST website, and I was prepared to show him some posts from FW to back up my claim.

Of course, it's entirely likely that WM corporate fubared the communications to their own people.

Thank you for the details. I am wondering where you got the 15-digit service pin for the $35 plan? Was it printed out from WARP system? My local Walmart ST rep grabbed a prepaid card off shelf to me, but I don't think it would work ad he even didn't scan it during the check-out.
Need clarification on this, I can't activate my phone after purchasing the 35 dollar plan. Its on the receipt but i never received a physical card and cannot locate the 15digit pin. Straight talk customer service has not been able to help

How about going back to Walmart and purchase 2 more phones, and activate them with the service cards or plans you already paid for? Make sure not to leave Walmart without activation. Or activate them at home as others in this thread have suggested.
Won't work because the phones will ring up at $149 unless you activate it with a new plan.

Your phone is already activated. This happened to me on my 6th and 7th phone. I was confused. Put the sim in the phone and it will work.
I got two phones from the same person 20 minutes apart. Got the paperwork for both. One phone activated immediately, the other didn't, even after 48+ hours. I had to activate it manually ok the ST website.

The physical card should be in the little envelope on the back of the box. It's possible he screwed up and sold you a generic iPhone rather than the ST version intended for this promo. Either way, he should have scanned the card to activate it
