Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

i activated 2 lines today. both are working fine. said activated. made phone calls, etc...
but then i cant pull the 2 lines on my accounts at all. there are no phone or lines activated or working under my account. maybe because we said "no" on the "add to an existing account"?

another note is my account after signed in. listed the right order and transaction. but the phone number is some strange number. and my name is just listed as "My account" as my first name and no last name.
Did you ever figure this out?

I went to WM. The boy said it costs $149 total.
I knew it's a scam. Don't waste your time!
Not a scam. Likely an uninformed employee or you went to a store that couldn't activate. Several people have reported buying today.
I bought one yesterday for $84 (probably should have been a few $ more for cell tax on 30 day plan but rep didn't add it).

I was told they get more commission for post-paid than prepaid, but of course they're happy getting any sale. Not sure about the regular reps but the manager definitely has a quota. The one here has been rotating through the stores without reps, but instead of working the posted hours he just sells his quota and leaves early. The WM electronics people have the T-ROC manager's number. If you ask VERY nicely they can contact them and ask which store has a rep working.
Yeah, I've never been down that road, so it sounds like you may have to give them a call to associate it with your account unless someone else has run across it and found a way to add it.

Bought a couple of phones at WM today. The employee was excellent and knew what she was doing. She was very fast at it as well. The phones got activated just fine without any issues. However, looks like WM is charging tax on $149 instead of on $49.

Went to WM today, dude didn't even look and said OOS. I see online that I can buy online and pick up tomorrow in store. Would I be able to buy / return to get deal in store to prove that they have it in stock?

the existence of the in-store "phone guy" on a sunday is a bigger problem.

It's worth a shot if it's not too far. I think some places try to discourage the return / rebuy thing, but just say that you saw the big $49 banner on the listing for the phone and bought it thinking that was the price and didn't notice it rang up higher until after you paid. If the employee doesn't help, try asking for the CSM and see if they can get it going. It's kind of the luck of the draw with who you get, but some of them will try to help out. It might be a good idea to try going on the weekend though … phone reps are probably more likely to be there during high traffic times and I wouldn't be surprised if they tend to get some decent business on a Sunday, with people stopping by after church and that kind of thing.

I am surprised you went with the iPhone 11 due to the weaker processor and it being a 2019 phone with very short period of support left. iPhone 11 with 6 more months too if you are concerned with unlock? I get the bigger screen though. Do you think porting out so soon will risk the unlock possibility of the iPhone SE 2022?

Interesting. My intention is to use and then trade-in much later when some great deal happens. If I were to do the Metro and had to do iphone, I would prefer to pay the extra for the iPhone 12 over the iPhone 11 but I am more interested in the iPhone 13 but it costs too much now. The iPhone 13 seems like a bigger step up from the 12. Next year the iPhone 13 will have very good deals that I can definitely wait for and will probably look at. I am actually digging the size (carry ability and comfort) of the iPhone SE 2022 right now and the powerful processor (same as the iPhone 13). I am surprisingly liking the iPhone SE 2022 more than I initially expected because my other phones have large screens.

Can someone help me out? I brought one two months ago to unlock and give as a X-Mas gift.
How do I get it unlocked? I paid for two months of service with tracfone ($10 plan). I never opened up the box, as like I said its an X-Mas Gift. How do I get it unlocked? The Tracfone account shows the correct IMEI. I had to submit an unlock request two days ago, and just did another one apparently. I'm lost on what to do here lol. I'd rather not open the box if I don't have too.

According to sickw.com it still showing IMEI Check Locked Carrier: 2360 - US TracFone/StraightTalk Locked Policy Sim-Lock Status: Locked
