Speaking of chips, last week I brought some bags of Boulder Canyon kettle style chips with avocado oil, salt and cracked pepper on a close out at the local Grocery Outlet store..

I had enjoyed these chips in the past but when I opened a bag at home the taste was "unusual". The chips had a sweet taste and not a good one. I then took a look at the ingredients and was surprised to fin "cane sugar" as the 4th ingredient. Huh?

Who expects sugar on potato chips? Is this a new trend in the USA to help people get even fatter?

Beware!

Not unusual or new at all. In fact most of the popular brands have sugar in them in some form. They usually call it something else though. It might be dextrose, corn dextrose, corn syrup solids, maltodextrine, whatever. That they called it cane sugar makes it so people more easily know and that might be a step in the right direction other than you know not putting sugar in everything

I do find sugar on the ingredient list of some things that I don't expect but potato chips hasn't been one of them. I've eaten a lot of different brands of potato chips and this is the first one that, to me, tasted noticeably sweet.

Although the cane sugar was number four on the list of ingredients, the percentage was only 1%, which doesn't sound that high.

Guess I am going to have look at the ingredient label more!

I just saw this item "on sale" for $4 at Publix. Yet Amazon is selling it at almost half the price, hand delivered to my doorstep in a sturdy cardboard box in perfect condition!

How they can afford to do that I have no idea.
