I don't think most would disagree with you but I'll counter your point with this phrase "Perfect is the enemy of good." By that I mean even a discreet setup requires a good bit of effort, tuning, etc. And even then hiding wires, aesthetics and foot print may be an undesired end state. These "set it and forget it" setups are perfect for people that want "good enough" sound without the hassle of discreet. I used to have a discreet 6.1 setup. When I moved I just didn't have the energy, patience or time to redo it all. A sound bar setup was good enough for me. For audiophiles who want the best sound and don't mind the footprint, they will most likely already be aware that discreet trumps sound bar.

I think for some it's the wires. I have a 5.1 setup in my basement. It was a pain drilling and getting the wires through the walls, then the painting and minimal patch up work.

This setup doesn't require all that and you still get a decent sound. Just without all that hassle.

Wow, great price. I got mine for $917 through Amazon and it was delivered today with 2-day prime shipping. Total through Samsung for me is $886, so it's not worth the hassle to return mine and wait until the 24th. Great find OP!!

BTW this soundbar is out of this world fantastic! Beautiful quality of sound.

Did you recently purchase something else with your discount account?

I purchased the Q900C yesterday and today I see the Q990C for $839 but once its in my cart it shows the regular price.

Rep said there is a limit on the number of discounted items per account. He said I would have to return/refund the Q900C before I get the discount on the Q990C.

Luckily the missus has another account.

Dang, back in stock now. They were out earlier today so I ended up ordering the q900c + 9500s rears for $735 after discounts (and 5% cash back w chase PayPal)

Do you think it is worth the extra $100 to re-order the q990c for the 2 extra drivers on the rear speakers, or are the 9500s decent enough?

Tried chatting for an additional 10%. The expert said $840 was the best they could offer. Worst-case, if it becomes cheaper, I have the 15 day price match guarantee or the 100 day trial. He said this sale is "ending soon." Didn't get an exact timeframe.
