I don't think most would disagree with you but I'll counter your point with this phrase "Perfect is the enemy of good." By that I mean even a discreet setup requires a good bit of effort, tuning, etc. And even then hiding wires, aesthetics and foot print may be an undesired end state. These "set it and forget it" setups are perfect for people that want "good enough" sound without the hassle of discreet. I used to have a discreet 6.1 setup. When I moved I just didn't have the energy, patience or time to redo it all. A sound bar setup was good enough for me. For audiophiles who want the best sound and don't mind the footprint, they will most likely already be aware that discreet trumps sound bar.

I think for some it's the wires. I have a 5.1 setup in my basement. It was a pain drilling and getting the wires through the walls, then the painting and minimal patch up work.

This setup doesn't require all that and you still get a decent sound. Just without all that hassle.

Probably a stupid question but I'll ask it anyways.

How does it sound without the surrounds? Can setup the soundbar and the subwoofer but the surrounds may not work for us. Both for aesthetic and practical reasons.

Similar configuration is going to be a bit expensive for Sonos. But if you are already within the Sonos ecosystem, beam would be better choice, you can always add surrounds and a sub or mini sub later to Sonos soundbar.

I've bought some mid tier Soundbars. Not cheap ones but nothing this expensive. Is this really worth that kind of money? The ones I have I think are great but they were sub $500. I just can't imagine how much better a Soundbar could get to spend this much. But I want one. Lol.

The AAA site is a nightmare. You have to specifically login to it. If you go to the discounts page there should be a login option.
