Should be fine although they do get a bit warm. Nothing close to incandescent bulb heat levels, though. If it's an issue, they can be dimmed via app to reduce heat generation I suppose.
I have about 18-20 of these in my home including in enclosed lamps and landscaping line voltage bollards. Some in use for years. Zero issues. 26 other Kasa switches, plugs and other items...RIP wifi router 😂
Yeah, it's the Price Intelligence tool at the top of this page on the desktop version of SD that says these was $15 a few days back. Looks like these bulbs were posted as part of a previous deal on various Kasa items and it's pulling the $15 price that was for something else. Kinda like those Amazon pages where they combine a bunch of different products on one page and the reviews get confusing.

I got a few philips Hue bulbs a while back but I think I'm gonna repalce them with these. There are probably reasons why they're inferior, but I lost the power cord for the Hue hub and I'm pretty deep in the Kasa ecosystem. I enjoy the no-frills app and it just seems to work better than Philips Hue ever did.
I have these and the only issue I have is they default to ON when the power goes out, then comes back on (especially if this happens when you're asleep).
Otherwise, these work really well. I have a few other Kasa products so the fact that I can use the same app is good too.

When I got these last time it was written on to not use in enclosed luminaries, I think because they get really hot. Does anyone know if it's safe to use them because almost all my room have those closed ball shaped fixtures.
All my LED bulbs say that. Havent had issues (yet)
If I configure it to turn on at 6pm and off at 5am and then lose internet do they continue to run that program? I know I would not be able to control them without internet but they would run headless until then? I lost internet for 3 weeks recently due to a neighbor cutting the DSL while doing fence work.
I have a Kasa smart outlet (with power monitoring) and it will run the schedule even without internet once the daily ON/OFF schedule is configured through the app. It must get downloaded to the device. I use it nightly to turn OFF and back ON my old wifi router that would sometimes stop working. Once while on vacation it stopped working for a week and required a power cycle by my nephew which led me to this solution. It cycles power to the very router it is using to connect to the internet.
Anyone familiar with the "newer version" bulbs with diagonal light-gray striping? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YP6T6GK/
I'm just worried that they'll update the app in two years and only have it work with that new kind.
Those KL110s are white only, vs. these KL125s are 16m colors. If you wanted the newer version of the KL125s, look for the KL135s. I have a bunch of the KL135s around and they're great, quite a bit brighter than my older KL125s.
However, nobody can predict what'll happen in two years and whether it'll work with bulbs you buy today.
I have a number of different Kasa no hub devices and they work great and never lose connection. The only thing I do not like about the Kasa app is that you cannot invite other people to have access to your "home". You have to share one login account with anyone you would like to have access. This can of course be solved by configuring them in Google or Alexa and sharing that way.
These work great with Home Assistant, and you can create profiles for people via that. One person in the house just has to "own" the whole Kasa infrastructure to set it all up and provision new bulbs and stuff, but everyone can control them later via HA groups, routines, etc.

I have these bulbs and they are great - however for my needs they don't output enough light. That said, they are reliable and easy to integrate with Google/Alexa and have good color capabilities.
The KL125s are 800lm, aka 60w equivalent. The KL135s are 1000/75. You can find 1200/100 bulbs out there, but I haven't seen them in multicolor very much.

for security purposes, is it advisable to have IoT devices like smart lightbulbs blocked off from the internet at the router level?
Yes, though a lot of IoT stuff won't work without internet access because that's how it communicates with the app on your phone. You can, however, give it *only* internet access, and no access to anything else on your network.
