1. Get one number for phone calls and texts ONLY. You are known to others (friends, banks, insurance companies...) by that number. Use a very cheap plan that has little to no data for it.
2. Get another number for data ONLY. Switch to the cheapest you can find every a few months. You are always a new user because you don't need to port in your number for it.

Not if you have a "dual SIM" phone.

With two SIMs active in one phone, you can use one for calls/texts, and the other for data.

I have thought about this also. It works very well this way in India physical dual sim phones are standard . But in usa which phone model has dual slim slots ? Not talking about physical esim combo.
There are options, but you're right, very few. The best option is if you can find a cheap talk/text plan with eSIM support, and switch the physical data SIM, but the data only carriers are typically less costly with just eSIM, at least from what I've seen, ie iFree.

New customer only, don't think you can stack
How much time do you have to be out of their plan to be considered as a new customer again?

can anyone confirm if they had activated boost sim card outside of USA? also is there an option for me to activate eSIm using the phyiscal sim details outside of USA? A little time sensitive question, so appreciate any insights.

PS: i did reach out to boost customer service over chat and the response isnt very clear.
I'm in Canada and I couldn't activate on this side. It wouldn't connect to a network. And it wouldn't connect through Internet phone call system

Anyone knows if previous Boost user can take advantage of this promotion? I just switched from Boost to Mint in less than 3 months, and my 3-month Mint promo is ending in three weeks. Can I switch back to Boost as "new customer"? assuming I use the same phone number but with different email address.

Thanks for the info--some others were asking about this. I wanted to check on whether it would not "activate"--that is, you punch in the SIM details on the website and it starts service, versus not being able to connect to the network -- which does not work internationally. Some were wondering if they could activate when overseas so they could port in a phone number and start service even if they do not use the network until they return to the U.S.

Boost AT&T is a good choice; don't buy SIM from Best Buy, Target, or Walmart.
If you purchase direct from boost website, do they send both AT&T & TMo sim cards? How can you guarantee ATT?

Other than wifi calling is there any reason for staying away from buying this from Walmart/target/etc?
I saw someone suggesting to avoid them. So just wondering if the lack of wifi calling is the only thing to consider here.

If you use google voice as main number and forward boost number to GV, is there a lag? I've done this 10 or so years ago, but wasn't flawless at that time. Does this work without issues nowadays? I googled this topic but didn't find relevant hits. Do you mind sharing your trick and your experience? TIA.
Edit - For example, does WhatsApp work with GV? I didn't think so.
Yes WhatsApp works flawlessly with the GV. Have been using it for 2 years.

Calls/texts and data are actually two separate things. You can have your primary phone number with a cheap (almost) call/text only plan and use one of these for data. When the time is up, there's no need to port the number. Just pretend that you are a new user.

The additional call/text plan is of course at a cost ($5~10 per month), but you also don't need to get worried about things going wrong when porting your number. If the two lines are on different networks, you also have a better chance of still having network access in rural areas. Overall, I'm happy with paying that.
Recommendations for a cheap voice/text paln for this strategy?

For any prior Boost customers thinking about this deal, Boost is leaving AT&T's services and going primarily to T-Mobile. They no longer allow you to request an AT&T SIM.
If that's the case can one still port out later from Boost to Mint Mobile?

I have not used this, but TextNow has "Free" voice/text plans after you buy their SIM for $5. You have to listen to ads, though: https://www.textnow.com/wireless

I alternate using Tello for a low-data plan without voice for about $6/month (it can be as low as $5 for 500MB or 100 min voice. Add $1 to have both. https://tello.com/buy/custom_plans

It's easy to port into and back out from when switching between this, Boost, Mint, etc.,

EDIT: RedPocket also has cheap annual plans (as low as $2.50/month for their eBay deals) if you are not a heavy user (e.g., 200 min voice, 200MB data @ 5G,1000 SMS). So, it's mainly a placeholder. https://www.redpocket.com/plans/annual

I came here to say that I managed to activate a Boost 2gb plan that I bought 2 years ago for $0.99, under this deal

http://slickdeals.net/f/15503296-new-boost-mobile-customers-1-month-2gb-5g-4g-lte-data-service-sim-kit-1-free-s-h

I remember ordering 5 of these in the span of about 3 weeks in late '21-early '22. I activated 3 of these in that time frame with new numbers which I'm pretty got ported out not long afterwards to Xfinity to qualify for BYOD GCs. I was cleaning out some stuff and realized that this remaining SIM had an expiration of 01/15/2024, so I decided to just activate it. I was able to get a new number even though I am fairly certain that I told Boost that I intended to port in a number when I placed the order.

The one I just activated with the 5th one I ordered. I also want to activate the 4th of 5 of my orders, but I didn't write down the email address used to place that order. I've got about 12 days to figure that out.
