Just returned this model from 2 weeks ago. The screen is terrible. Needed to be at 100% brightness to have a decent viewing experience. Seemed Very pixelated for 1080p. And the battery life was absolute trash just watching YouTube, I can't imagine how bad it would be gaming.

Get this deal, or stick with the HP Victus Laptop: 15.6" FHD 144Hz, Ryzen 5 7535HS, RTX 2050, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD $450 ?

Big differences I'm seeing is the processor (Ryzen vs Intel) and Graphics card (RTX 2050 vs 3050)

Yes, same one. I'm the OP of the Microcenter deal.
It was actually possible to price match to BB, as stated.

Here's the thread for reference, and more info on this laptop:

Thumbs up and reps for the good doctor for posting! nod

Difference be tween this one and the walmart deal. I5-11400h. The walmart deal has the trx 3050 with 4 Gs. This one has the trx 3050 with 6g. Would two more g's make that big of a difference? Is this deal really worth the extra $100 over the walmart deal? I am looking for a decent laptop for my son, he games and mostly plays fortenite.
Quote from scholzpdx :
These 4P/4E CPUs shouldn't exist. I don't get why these don't have 8 e-cores. Even at slightly lower clocks to reach the same TDP they would perform much better at web and multithreaded productivity application, in addition to newer games.
Quote from bricyboy :
So your recommendation is to skip this and pay more for 8 e-cores? I'm trying to spend less than $600 on a computer that can run games at 1080p and I was thinking of buying this over the Walmart $470 rtx 3050 laptop.
Quote from dhax :
ScratchchinPlease help me decide. This one? or the $449 victus with AMD 5 and nvidia 2050? It's only for my daughter who plays minecraft, robox, fortnite and valorant. Thanks.

Edit: Also this Lenovo LOQ [costco.com]?

To all the above this Victus with 6GB 3050 is a HUGE jump over a 3050 with 4GB and a 2050. The Victus looks to only come in a 95W variant and if thats the 6GB variant in the HP you will see frames per second increases of over 30-50% over a 4GB or 2050. Those are HUGE numbers. Yes the trade off is you get a crummy screen, but you know for $550 hard to complain, also need to upgrade the ram to at least 16GB. So unless you want to spend like a baller, this is one of the best deals on a gaming laptop you can get for people on a budget.

I posted the Walmart $480 deal and posted the videos of the frames side by side of the different graphics card on the exact same games from youtube if you want to see for yourself.

Hoping to snag a openbox under $500 with all the people who returned theres cause the screen was not pretty enough for them LMAO .

Also to the guy complaining about cores, even now most applications dont go past two cores if even that when it comes to being coded.... So your rage is very uninformed. If your gaming on a entry level laptop you wont be having multiple applications in the background, running your stream studio off it, and who else knows what... Major lack of realistic expectations and knowledge.

Hi everyone, I am looking to buy a gaming laptop (first foray into PC gaming). Is this OK for gaming?

I was also eyeing the Asus Laptop at Costco up for 799.

I understand the Asus would be better, but how much better?

Thank you in advance for any advice.
I'd look for something that is a 3060 Ti at a minimum for desktop and 3060 for laptop

Will this play Call of Duty or AAA games, and if so, at what resolution? TIA.

You said what you would look for but didnt say why? If your 1080p gaming even a 3050 can game on max settings.... so you need to justify your statement more. If your on a budget a 3060 is another $200 and in most cases the FPS gain is minimal cause of the gimped TDP.

If you want to just use your 15" laptop and 1080p, then yes 3050 will be more than enough. But if you want to plug in a couple more monitors and higher resolution, then I'd go with a 3060.

There's been great deals on 3060 laptops, so if you can wait, I'd wait.

But that's just me.

Older Triple AAA games at 1080p max settings no problem, newer games in the last year at 1080 at medium settings around 30-50ish frames, lower the resolution to 720 or lower quality settings and can easily get over 60FPS.

You wont find a 3060 at $550. The cheapest a brand new in box was $700 and it was a gateway which I dont recall if it was a gimped TDP or at least 100watt one. For what you are doing, you are in the wrong slickdeal thread, this is for people gaming on a budget while mobile, not for people looking at home desktop replacements. If you want home desktop replacements you need to be at the $1K range which was the 4070 cards in the Asus, Gateway, and Cyberpower.

i was leaning towards the Costco Lenovo LOQ i5-13420h with rtx 2050, and 16gb ram @ $500, as a budget gaming laptop. but i realized i also had a dell 10% off and amex $120 off dell, so i looked a little into dell and saw:

Dell G15 i5-13450hx with rtx 3050, but 8gb ram @ $700 before discounts ($510 after)

or

Dell G15 Ryzen 7-7840hs with rtx 4050, and 16gb @ 800 before discounts ($600 after)

What would you guys go for?
