Chiaki software + Tailscale + ROG Ally/Legion Go/Steam Deck should get you all set up with playing PS5 on the go

The PS Portal doesn't really do anything except for offering a "portal" to your PS5. The capabilities of this ASUS ROG Ally are far beyond the portal.

Any beat up old tablet/smartphone can do what PS Portal does. 😂

I think most people don't want to have to install a second OS on their device. Also, streaming still is not very good.
Yeah maybe but again that's your opinion. I'm not here to speak for everybody or give my opinion. I'm merely providing facts and preventing misinformation from being spread. To each their own.

Love this device. Way faster, lighter, and cooler than my steam deck. Don't use a micro SD card tho lol

ROG Ally is KING!!!! Actually I'm kidding, I like it but Deck/Ally/Go are all great options depending on your specific use case. Though, Deck fan boys are real laugh out loud

Regardless, this is a good deal on a good device that fits front page appropriately.

That's not true ps portal allows play anywhere you have WiFi.
The experience will also be at the mercy of the WiFi connection.

Kinda funny how a lot of you just compare specs and not anything about battery life, eco system of the device, usability, warranty, compatibility, comfort, weight, size, etc. that goes into making a device suitable for someone. It's like you just assume everyone is only cares about specs and that's all it matters when it comes to portable gaming.

You know exactly what I mean. The specs on paper and real world performance. I'm sure there are also lots of Nintendo switch fans that love its uniqueness and would never think about upgrading to a PS5, you're in the same camp.
Real-world performance is hampered by Windows, which can eat up about 10% of your processing power.

Have portal and ROG. ROG is good for must things except PS5 streaming. Also can't play all PS5 and certain classic games fully or at all.

For sure, I believe that. So how does it stack up against the Steam Deck after losing 10% of it's processing power?

Can this fully perform what PS portal does?.
Yes, it can. Get the program "chiaki" and you're gold.

What games is everyone playing on this thing? I'm trying to imagine what would be nice to play on a handheld (eg. on a commute) that wouldn't require squinting at the screen.

Not necessarily, you can dual boot and install windows on the steamdeck if you want. Or you can use the gamepass streaming on the streamdeck.
You can install windows, that doesn't mean it works properly nor is an easy process. You can stream gamepass on any device, no need to buy a $400 steamdeck to do so.

I'm hoping there is a trend for OLED displays in PC handhelds and they make OLED versions of devices like the Ally and Go.

It has a history of frying SD cards. So most people are not using the SD card slot for anything important. Mine works fine. I'm not sure what the percentage is of devices that have this problem, however it sounds fairly high.

Gen 2 of both devices certainly will if they want to stay competitive with the Steam Deck.
