I rather have the solar panel separate. The angle of the sun and where you want the camera might be ideal in different positions.

And you'll see that from the reviews when people complain about the battery & charging.

Q: whats the difference between the s220 and the s230 eufy solocams ?
A: There is no spotlight on the S220 and the battery capacity is 6500mAh, while S230 is 13000mAh.

I beta tested this unit for them earlier this year, and it is amazing if you're used to having to recharge your cameras every 3-6 months.

This one does have some odd requirement to use the Homebase 3 for storage, otherwise it uses local storage? I've never really figured that out, as everything still works properly- it just has its own line item in my list of Eufy products instead of being attached to my "home" if that makes any sense?

Would Homebase 2 work with this, then? Seems oddly prohibitive if not

If I want to install more than 1 of these, what to use as a hub? Or is the app enough?

I have two of these, the app is enough. You will have to use the home base if you want local storage. I can only look up recordings from the same day and sometimes if there are too many movement recordings it doesn't go far back. I still enjoy them and use them just to keep an eye on my puppy while she is in the backyard.

There is a hub called the HomeBase 3 that you could use with these.

I would recommend getting the S230 if you want a spotlight on the device. The S230 is not (currently) compatible with the HomeBase 3, though. All videos are stored locally on the camera, but can be downloaded to your phone through the app.

I got it for $80 a month ago. Installed three last week. Two aren't in the sunniest spots while one is. So far all are charging well and maintain 99-100% battery.

Motion detection at night is good. I like that videos are saved to my Home base 3 which has an SSD so plenty of space.

The app isn't the best, I wish there was one button I could click to turn off all cameras when I'm outside. Or to set it not to work during certain hours. But overall I'm happy.

Have you tried using "Group Control" to do this? E.g. you can have an "I'm leaving" or "I'm here" button that toggles the mode of all cameras at once?
