If you ever used receiver that did correction you would know. it just clearly sounds better. And it's not doing it by adding some kind of sound effect or anything.
The license itself is $349 from Dirac directly. It's really good software, but you may need to tweak the final result. The universal crossover may be a deal breaker for some people.
Dirac is better than the MCACC or AccuqEQ calibration software these receivers usually come with.

Is Dirac live some sort of bullet proof correction that makes it the most important feature in a receiver?

Thanks. So basically it's $349 worth of acoustic treatment. For a $650 price point, I feel like most people could spend the same $350 on other things and get better results?
On a brand new 9.2 receiver with a 3yr warranty? No.

Yes that's how it's usually portrayed.
Unfortunately RC is not bulletproof.
It doesn't really fix bad placement of speakers and environment issues.
Dirac is a good RC but Dirac Live is only half of Dirac RC.
The other half of that RC is Dirac Live Bass Control(DLBC).
It not only handles bass integration between subs, it does it between your speakers also.
Very critical & beneficial for a good system.
How well it works depends a lot on all that.

I am also curious. My receiver sounds awesome with minimum setup from me. Why would I need correction?

Is this worth the extra $250 over the Denon 970H? I'm not immediately looking to setup Atmos but wouldn't mind the option to in the future.
Absolutely, it's 9.2….people keep getting hung up on all kinds of bells and whistles, but that is the biggest differentiator. This will do 7.2.2, which is the perfect mix for gaming and home theater. I bought the 970H and wish I'd waited. 😣

The only "better" that matters is yours.
