On a brand new 9.2 receiver with a 3yr warranty? No.
If you ever used receiver that did correction you would know. it just clearly sounds better. And it's not doing it by adding some kind of sound effect or anything.
The license itself is $349 from Dirac directly. It's really good software, but you may need to tweak the final result. The universal crossover may be a deal breaker for some people.

Dirac is better than the MCACC or AccuqEQ calibration software these receivers usually come with.

How does this website get huge price cuts on receivers vs Amazon/Best Buy etc?

Actually price cuts are not huge, they do it more often then Amazon and other retailers. But generally they discount around $50 more then the lowest price seen on Amazon. It does come at the expense of returns being not free as Amazon. So you make a choice.

lol you would have to ask Adorama for a "real" answer!
Other than that it's all just speculation as I just did.

BTW "Amazon/Best Buy" usually matches and or price matches Adorama(I have).

I'm surprised you didn't know all this since you have been on here since 2015!? 🤔
Neither one would price match. Tried several times.

Sucks when they get picky!
I was waiting for the 4800 to hit $1200 or 3800 under $1k.
When the 3800 hit $999 I made BB PMing the deciding factor….
Completely expected them not to because of the lame reason not near a Adorama store and of course they did!
Good thing the 4800 hasn't hit $1200 😉

This arrived today. Set up as 7.1.2 and no complaints. Will run dirac after my new speakers arrive

Noticed it has a fan keeping it cool. Returned tx-nr7100 because it was overheating

I know receiver's aren't meant for this application but would it be possible to use a 7.1.4 sound bar system as an eARC output for the sound bar, connect all my devices to the reciever as a mixer and then connect to the TV as just an ARC display? Wondering if getting a reciever on sale is a feasible option until I build out with speakers.

That would be one expensive mixer.
Never tried but I'm guessing won't work based on how each work.

If you plan to eventually build a speaker setup and you have the money for a receiver & a 7.1.4 Atmos soundbar.

My suggestion, start a budget fund with the money and just buy a used inexpensive soundbar + HDMI switcher to hold you over.

I bit for value and to try Dirac. Although I'm only doing 5.1.2.

Sounds very good. That's without any calibration. Improvement over my previous Onkyos (txnr676 and txnr7100)

Purchased to replace my Yamaha RX-V575, so far so good. Only three negatives so far:

-Built in Chromecast cannot play on Zone 2. Also, only HDMI 1-3 can cast to zone 2. Not a deal breaker, but took me a while to figure that out.
-Having trouble getting DIRAC live to work, keeps saying volume too loud no matter how low I adjust the speakers.
-Switching between inputs and zones is slower/clunkier than my old Yamaha.

Overall happy, lots of power and sound. Just a few gripes I wasn't expecting in a receiver at this price range.

I am debating this or the nr7100 for $629 (too bad it isn't still $529...). I know the Onkyo allows for different crossover settings. That seems to be the only edge it has over the Pioneer. Would adding a fan to the Onkyo fix the overheating or is the Pioneer just built better? Trying to decide which of the two is "better".
