I went to my local Metro, they had an S23 FE in stock for $99. However, the stipulation was that the owner first has to make a couple hundred on accessories with the sale because he's losing money on the deal. Lol!

Yup. The top performer phones don't have micro sd which is absolute bs. Thx apple. Your greed has spread to other brands who swore to not stoop to that level but eventually did anyway.

Brightness is a big deal for me, and here's what gsmarena said about this;
Quote :
The maximum brightness we measured when controlling it manually was 451 nits, while the maximum automatic brightness was 985 nits.

We can confirm the display can go beyond 1,300 nits on a small patch of white, so the promised 1,450 nits of peak brightness is surely possible.

The minimum brightness at point white was just 1.6 nits.

Needs 5G mmwave frequency bands... also bezels are too big for this price/specs ..
Otherwise, not worth it...
If you want to know, I looked at the FCC ID specs for the bands, and it does support C-band and mmWave 5G.

the SNAPDRAGON 8 GEN 1 just ruined this FE models... which were already glorified S22s to begin with

wait for an s23 deal.... even the base model will probably have better battery life than this garbage
No doubt some truth to what you have said. However what will be the cost. I got this for less than $100.

Actually I was able to confirm indeed this phone DOES HAVE 5G MMWAVE - more specifically for Tmobile which we use.

Doesn't T-mobile mostly use mid-band for 5G. I thought mmwave was mostly a Verizon thing.

upfront $$ loss per phone sold.
First month commission per line is 60% times plan. next 5 months commission is 35% times plan.
Late payments are subject to no commission paid by tmobile to dealer.
Devices swaps or port out after buying iphones or any phone is subject to a huge loss too since tmobile will not reimburse dealer the upfront capital invested to obtain phones, and sell at a discount. we buy phones at a higher price than customers pay for.

In a perfect world that you stay with metro by tmobile for 6 months and pay bill on time, the store will make
(.60 x 25) + [(.35 x25)]5 = 15+43.75= 58.75-18.50 = $40.25 per phone in 6 months. pathetic margins

The chance that the above scenario happens is very rare.

From Reddit
Interesting. Thanks for the info. Looks like they've modified the commission structure. It's been a bit, but i recall a few years back dealers made more on the first month (but with mostly no monthly residuals) and a slim margin on phones. The chargeback period was also much, much shorter. With the commission structure you posted from Reddit, a dealer could potentially make more than before at about the 4th or 5th month but a greater risk than before (who knows if the customer will keep the line that long, pay on-time, downgrade the plan, etc).

Also noted that the Reddit examples uses a $25 rate plan activation for the calculations but I see that it's still common practice at the stores to bundle these promo deals with the $50 or $60 rate plans. So margins would, on average, be higher than $40.25. If the average were truly that low, dealers would make practically nothing after subtracting operating expenses and accounting for risk.
