I don't think Costco people would tenderize steaks mechanically (simply add more labor cost). They usually cut their steaks fresh in bulk from vacuum-sealed whole pieces (usually gone within 1-2 days) while retail stores keep their steaks out on ice for much longer. Therefore Costco steaks appear to be tender and wet. As steak dries and protein/fat starts to degrade, the beefy flavor becomes more pronounced, like aging. I feel you probably will like ribeye cap a lot.

Fact check: I was wrong. They do tenderize most single-cut steaks with blades.

From what I recall, they do mechanically tenderize most of their steaks, unlikely for this though. I believe you can see it on the label as "Blade Tenderized".

Actually, the richest people are most often the cheapest.

Thanks, how are BJ's steaks?
BJ's "Prime" strip steaks are unbelievable. I just put a little ground black pepper and coarse sea salt on them, then grill to medium rare. Love them..

False. I love SD but I bought 6lbs of A5 Wagyu for $500 'cause I thought I would absolutely love it. I was wrong. I didn't like it. It wasn't bad but it was too fatty and expensive for my taste. Would I have bought it again if I loved it? Hell yeah. My friends and family whom I shared with were mixed as well. Some liked it and some don't, so definitely a matter of taste.
My thoughts ... it totally depends on the cook. We can cook regular stew meat and it is finger smacking good (we know from the multiple servings our guests take). And then there are folks who can buy these expensive meats and make it taste like overpriced rubber. So its all in the hands of the cook Smilie

Given it's Slickdeals, I think it's more like the ones who could afford this will think these kind of luxury are overrated rip offs in the first place LMAO

Interesting, I'll have to try sams club meat. I figured it would be junk compared to costco. Figured costco puts a little more effort in quality than Sam's club.
But if you're worried about mechanically tenderizing the meat use a sous vide. It will make meat safe while keeping it on the rare side. Then pat it dry and high heat sear it for a minute or two. It's the way I mostly cook my steaks. Sometimes bbq them.
Sams "prime" meat is not as good as Costco's and it's not even close, the choice is similar but I do like Sams options better. I think people that are worried about the blade tenderizing are just parroting what others have said. I've been eating Costco beef for over 20 years and never had any issues.

BJ's often gets Prime Ribeye and NY Strip(occasional Tenderloin).
The QUALITY is far superior to Costco, even with the blade mutilization of the prime/choice meat it's tough and stringy.

Costco price/quality is horrible, including cuts/trimming.
Much better cuts at the local publix supermarket for similar pricing(when on sale).
Lol. BJs meat is trash. Food poisoning once.

It's a bummer too... because their prices are amazing. I simply won't buy them anymore. I do like their tri-tip though...
Where do you people live. Costco by far has the best meats in this area. Just did a Brisket and it was amazing. Blows any supermarket or Sam's and BJs away. Maybe add some seasoning. Lol
