They look AMAZING on a tree. You just want to make sure you get the right length for the size of your tree so you dont' have to space them out too much to make the animations too pixely.

Personally since it's the same price, I would get a longer string light: Twinkly - Smart Light String 600 LED RGB Generation II - Multi

My last advice is to not mix different generations and LED types. Getting a Generation II like above is what I have and I love it.

From the Gallery screen, open the FX Wizard by hitting that magic wand in the top right corner. From there you can create your own patterns, draw with your finger, or import gifs.

Here's a good calculator to help you determine how many lights to put on your tree

I have their 7.5" tree with 750 lights built-in (and would like the lights to be a touch more dense),
my daughter has a 9' tree w/ two 600 light strands.
For your 14' I would suggest three 600 light strands. The more dense they are, the more detailed the effects you can do.

I bought these and returned them. I was hoping to use them on the tree, but they're just too eye-piercingly bright for me. You can turn the brightness down, which I had planned to do, but be prepared for visible flicker. I picked up some classic color incandescents and I'm much happier with the warm glow look of them.
I have 1,200 gen 2 on a tree right now set to 6% brightness with absolutely no flicker whatsoever. In two years I've never seen a flicker. If you connected some led kitchen lights to mains power directly and didn't use a controller/transformer I suppose you could have some flicker. With Twinkly having their controller/transformer built into the cord, I'm not sure a flicker is even physically possible. These lights rock. Be more like Clark and less like Todd & Margot.

As a point of reference, I have a 7.5 ft tree with 600 built-in lights and added another 400. 600 is enough for regular lights. If you want patterns, 1,000 is more or less the minimum.

I got this as well. I'm hoping I can get away with the 600 on a 7' tree without having to add to it.

Edit: They sent me the RGB instead of the RGB+W I ordered 😡 Amazon won't let me swap only return so I'm messaging the seller.

Is this a reputable site? I'm thinking about returning the 600 led to my shady Amazon store and going with the 2 400s like you did.

We have a 7ft live tree, would you guys think that 400 would be enough if i went with the RGB+W deal? Been seeing here that people recommend at least 600 for a 8-9 ft tree, but im also reading the more the merrier when it comes to these lights, but would 800 be overkill if i got 2 sets of the 400 count? But to confuse matters more, I've also been reading that the regular gen 2 RGB can come ''pretty' close to the warm white lights, can anyone attest to this? I dont need 100% perfect warm white if i can save 50 bucks...

Thoughts...
