Purchased one of these a couple weeks ago at the same price for BF/Cyber Monday and I'm very happy with it so far. Great looking screen, snappy performance, feels solidly built, good battery life so far and not a ton of bloatware. I would recommend it for a non dedicated gaming all around solid performer.

Absolutely not.
This is only the 4th or 5th time that it's going for this price, I reckon, 2-3 of those times were in this holiday season and the other times was months ago, not "every other week".

They put it at this price coz it sells so much. Everytime this deal has at this price has made it to FP, over here. Also, the fact that it's going for this price often is a foreshadowing that it might get even $50 cheaper than this by Christmas.

Very few ultra books have GPU. Not everyone needs or wants want. .
Either way, you won't find a better laptop at this price. This has set the bar for new pricing. Laptops have crashed in price through 2023, finally.

Nope. Been watch it for a while now

I don't understand your second point. If $699 will sale well then why not just keep it at that price point? People will continue to buy then? Right?

Also not saying it a bad laptop. But at some point you just have to wonder why.

It doesn't make sense to just put a product at the lower price 100% of the time if they can get some better margins with the product selling at the higher price even if it's in low volumes.

Same, I knew what kind of battery life I was going to get since it was OLED, so far it's been a great laptop. I've been getting decent battery life when setting brightness to 3-4 lower than max and with hdr off.
Are you getting less than 5 hrs?

the only 512gb drive and no MicroSD slot makes this a no go. Basically gotta open up a brand-new laptop and swap out a new SSD. Nope. hardrive size is super cheap, no reason why this shouldn't be 1TB

Yeah I'm getting like 5-6 hours if I cap the speed at around 2ghz with like 80% brightness and 120hz.
I use a black background and dark mode browser, and use it to study stuff with Anki.
The one cool niche thing for me is that it works with both of my portable laptop power banks, while some of my laptops with GPUs don't work with one of the power banks I had bought way back. So, add on an extra pound to your baggage and double your battery life pretty much.

16GB is a bummer but the only Zenbook-like laptop I saw with the 120hz OLED and 32GB is the larger 15.6" model and the cost is like... $300-500 more. The ones that have GPUs are even higher closer to the $1200-1500 range. I'll probably use this for light work and even put Linux on it later.

The OLED 120hz is great to have. Touch-screen is a nice bonus too.

The CPU is great and it runs cool so far which is surprising. I guess that's the benefit of not having a GPU in it.
It's not as light as I thought it would be but lighter than my other machines.
Someone mentioned the screen has a texture to it and is most readily seen on white backgrounds. Have you noticed that?

I bought the 12th gen-i5-8gb last year. It's been great. Does kinda suck to crack open a brand new laptop but atleast it was really easy to do. I put a 2tb in and used a usb-c to Ethernet adapter to get online for the new drivers. I didn't think to back them up. Mine does have the micro SD card slot. Strange that this one doesn't.

Yes, it's due to the touch screen digitizer. It's a bit annoying for me as I don't care about touch capabilities but it's not too bad and I don't notice when watching videos

that's so odd, is it just because it's an touchscreen oled instead of IPS? I don't see it being an issue with other manufacturers with touchscreen oleds.

Build quality on this laptop is really good. I have a much older ASUS ultrabook and it has served me well. I went through a couple of Lenovo and HP laptops with hinge issues and other quality problems.
The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the number key that keeps popping up on the touch pad depending on where I rest my hand. The screen, keyboard, and facial recognition unlock are all great on this notebook.

Yes, that's what I've heard. It's a touch screen OLED issue

Avoid Best Buy

The worst CS in industry.

You get a price match for something you bought yesterday. A rep and then a manager assures you it was processed and you will a get confirmation email with the refund in 24h.

Days go by, no email, no refund. Turns out their "backend team" did not approve the price match... So, whatever the reps or their supervisors promised you dont mean squad.

Oh, you have screenshots and saved the chat? Dont mean squad. You just end up wasting hours of your time and energy

It being frontpage everytime doesn't mean much nowadays.

3 times in 40 days. Between sales it's $999. A typical maximizing profits strategy.
