Just NOT having thin white letters on silver keys is an upgrade for HP. I look for backlit, but not if it's white on silver. I finally decided the $100+ upgrade to get backlit on my last laptop wasn't worth the cost and bought bold glow in the dark on black stickers for my keys. Now I can read them both in a lit room and a dimly lit one.
I agree. I'd take a non-backlit gray keyboard over a backlit sliver keyboard. That is a mistake you only make once.

Can't find anything as to IPS or TN, but this may be helpful for the memory. https://www.memorystock.com/memor...283st.html

USB-C charging is great for standardized but also planned obsolescence. I use laptops to they drop but this will be the first component to fail.
I've had three USB-C ports fail/break off so far. On a couple of my work laptops, that are under warranty thankfully. USB-C IS the charging port. No other options. Being without the computer for days while it gets fixed isn't worth the slight convenience it brings. So now when I look for new laptops I make sure USB c isn't the ONLY charging option. Way too easy to break the connector vs the standard barrel connecors. Never had one of those break, and I've been in IT since laptops were a thing. Lol

Is this pretty easy to upgrade the memory?
I have 4 HP laptops since 2015. The memory of each laptop can be upgraded. But it is a huge challenge to open the case for the first time. You can google it and view some youtube video to see how people open a case of an HP laptop. And you better buy some tools before you open the laptop case.
The tricky part actually is some hidden screws hided behind the plastic. You could break the case if you use too much force.
Recently I broke something when I opened the case of my 2015 HP laptop as I was in hurry and missed the screw.
Regardless, HP is really poor in the design for the customer to replace the memory or the hard drive.

This has 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 (2x2), which is good. Wifi 6e is better, but wifi6 mimo like this has is just fine.

It does show IPS in the second image on the staples site. But besides that it's hard to confirm.

similar experience . The usb-c connector seems more fragile than the barrel ones

Can I just add one (1) stick of 8Gb? Or do I have to have a brand new matching 16Gb (8+8) sticks?

Also, can anyone recommend good rams for this? I just bought the laptop for kid's school.
