That might be perfectly fine with someone who understands the history of these subs. My issue is reselling later. The regular guy down the street with no audio experience isn't necessarily going to like the fact that someone attached a generic amp and a piece of wood to the back of a lovely looking sub.

If someone were to go that route, however, I'd probably advise them to seal off the back and install a Speakon connector. Use an external amp of their choice.
Measure the cutout on the klipsch and then shop based on that. Most ppl wouldn't even notice a difference.

Not on sale anymore. Currently in an argument with adorama about honoring the sale price after they agreed to it and now are shying away.

Sometimes(actually often) these sales are manufacturer driven. If Adorama can't receive the manufacture incentive then they might actually lose money. Hard to say exactly what the Adorama mark-up is but I doubt they are handling the full discount alone.

The regular price on this is laughable.
I don't agree.

The retail price is fine for the product, especially since Klipsch is a big player and thus in an economy driven by 'on sale'. You have to start a bit high in order to overcome the endless need for the thing to be on sale.

Another factor is the size.

Shipping something this large multiple times, wharehousing it multiple times and having people have to handle it physically multiple times and then final delivery. This really increases costs.

In the same space of one of these you can pack and move 4 of the 10" version.

At any rate (possible plate amp issues aside) this sub blows away any and all $600 retail subs I have used or been around. So at the $579 price this is very good perfromance.

I get that, but it's shitty that hey promised they would honor the price while I waited for my store credit to finalize, then threw up their hands when the credit came through. I could've afforded it without the credit, but I'll be damned if I pay double just because their agents bait and switch

Quality subwoofers don't necessarily need large amounts of power to make boom boom sounds that can make you happy.
You win, sir. You win.

Thank you for the laugh.
