It's not owned by Home Depot, but yes, they do have a lifetime warranty. You have to register the product within 90 days of purchase to get the lifetime warranty, otherwise it reverts to a 3 year warranty. They're made by TTI, the same company that makes Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Hart. TTI also owns DirectToolsOutlet, where they sell factory surplus tools as "blemished" tools. They're not actually blemished. That's just TTI's way of getting around the exclusivity contract with Home Depot.
I tried to register mine and it does not allow me to using WD4070 or WD40701 or adding 'VNM' at the end as it instructs to. So, I called CS and they told this product has a lifetime warranty and does not require registration.
I tried registering the LSA on the ridgidpower.com website - the same website all of my other ridgid tools are registered through. The registration process wouldn't accept the model number, so I called the support phone number: 1-866-539-1710. They told me the vacuums are sold from a different company and to call 1-888-240-0148 for assistance.
I called the new phone number and they told me the vacuums don't have an LSA, but they have "Ridgid Full Lifetime Warranty" which is stamped on top of the product box. They told me all vacuums are automatically registered for lifetime warranty and that registration is optional. I told them I still wanted to go through the optional registration. Here is how to do it:
Go to Ridgid.com (not ridgidpower.com)
Go to Support --> Product Registration
Click Wet/Dry Vacs
Click the Red button Create An Account (not the orange button)
Go through the account registration process and then enter in model/serial number for the vacuum
They told me warranty registration is optional, but I decided to do it anyways.
