It's two different deals with two different links. The 32GB model is a M1 Max chip for $2099 whereas the $1600 is 1TB and 16GB. The deal on the 16GB is marginal in my opinion and only because it's NEW (if that really matters to you). This has been less for certified refurb.

The M1 Max with 32GB and 1TB seems like the better deal if your budget allows.

1600 for M1 pro?! This isn't even a good price even before M3 came out; after M3, it's just a horrible price - the performance gap between M1 and M3 are generationally big.

I use one of these for work, be warned - they're big and heavy so make sure you've got a decent backpack if you're going to be walking any distance carrying this thing around

Man, I'm slightly disappointed the 32gb version isn't $1600 because that'd be super slick. I was ready to pull the trigger despite really looking for 64gb-96gb. Good deal still nevertheless.
I think 96gb is bare minimum now for future-proofing, for sure.

There's zero guarantee you're going to get that. For all we know the refurb could literally be an Apple Store display model which was tortured instead of a barely used store return.
Fortunately the ones in microcenter most of the people got barely used like 6 to 11 cycles max i got mine looks brand new.
Its brand new

That's not true when you run DriveDx or similar software to look at hard drive cycles. Plenty of crowdsourcing feedback on MicroCenter SD thread posts of users reporting their specs and laptop condition. Just a week ago I got a 2021 M1 Pro 14" 16GB/1TB for $1,200. Absolute steal with 5 hours SSD power on time. There were 4 cycles on battery. Only 385GB had ever been written to it. MC employee says they get "old stock" from distributors that have had it for awhile with limited use and they've sent them out to Apple to certify and refurbish.

Not a hair scratch to the naked eye or magnifying glass. Pristine and feels/looks fantastic.

Sure, you CAN see how used it is after you receive the item.

But I'm saying you're buying a refurbished device from Apple. Where do you think all those tens of thousands of display models in all of the Best Buy's, Apple Stores, and other places go exactly?

You will sometimes get barely used returns and you will sometimes get heavily used demo units which have had worn keyboards replaced but are still heavily used. I'm just saying the variability is part of the game with refurbs. A lot of people here got lucky and think that you'll only get new/like new devices. That's not guaranteed and it might not even be the norm.

Equivalent M3 Pro config with 32GB + 1TB is $2800, so if that bit of extra performance over an already blazing fast M1 Pro is worth an extra $1200 for you, go for it!

Just to mix it up a bit, the 16" 2TB SSD with 64GB of RAM is available for $500 more at B&H for ($2,599).

Aren't they 1499?
