I have this system installed a year ago. Not at all pleased. Frown Worked ok initially.
My displeasures:
  1. As soon as you open the door it shuts the engine down.
  2. Mobile app control comes with subscription (Free 30-Day Trial) | basic plan $6/month, Ultimate is only $50 /month
I didn't go with the subscription and now my system doesn't even work.
different system. drone mobile, which is 100-150$ more DOES drain battery because it has a 4g modem. no way around that. It also costs money because you get a Sim card with it. no way around that either.

there is no subscription required for this unit.

car shutting down with door open is a problem with security system of your car.

why are half of these posts made up nonsense?

For Toyota/Lexus push starts, the shut off is intentionally when you open the door and the vehicle shuts off. This goes for aftermarket like Compustar and even OEM.

It's a safety reason for if you have the vehicle started and a thief tries to break in and open the door, the vehicle with shut off.

Vouch for Compustar. I've had them installed on three different vehicles and had great experiences with them. From using basic 1 way remotes, 2-way, and 2-way with turbo timers.

You can't put your own sim, I believe. You will have to signup for Compustar's subscription to remotely start your car from your phone (and remotely monitor your car). Long term subscriptions are considerably cheaper per month than the shorter term ones.
can confirm.
last I checked drone mobile for 5 years was 8$ a year for remote start per month.

compustar has a nice table on the website, go look.

prices get very steep when you add GPS tracking and alerting which is around 20$+ a month.

You can add a Drone Mobile system, which is plug and play HOWEVER you must have a magical 40$ lapop cable to enable it (bought mine on Amazon) then you have to find the software and enable it.

but it still won't let you skip subscription so what's the point.
oh and the 4g totally kills the battery in 10 days.

i spoke to someone who assumed everyone got 1 testla already and they dont need this remote starter.i am too poor to collect the $7500 incentive. so dont count me in. i think the income has to be at least $150k to get the max of $7500 back.

this is all correct. but it also is an idiotic implementation by Toyota.

every other automatic car shuts off after pressing brake (required to shift in gear)

every other manual car requires parking brake or neutral switch sometimes both ot it shuts off when these disengage.

there is no reason to do this unless you think MacGyver is real and is going to hotwire your brake pedal a which point he might have hotwired the ignition and built a paraglider while he was at it.

i have one of both me and my wife's Honda's. It has worked flawlessly for many years. However just recently my wife's has been finicky and doesn't always start her car or give the feedback, however the backup works (with no feedback). Im wondering if the fob just needs a batter replaced.

If going with a Acura TL with push button start make sure your car starts with the Keyfob in dash and the glove box switch turned off for Proximity start. They weren't able to program mine because the car won't start if that proximity switch is off and keyfob is in dash like it's supposed to and they need that to work to program correctly. I replaced the keyfob slot and had keys reprogrammed still don't work so I'm SOL on mine.

Definitely change the battery first. If you're not sure how to do it the GOOGLE how to change battery on compustar remote. You find many videos on how to do it.

I believe it uses 2 CR2025 batteries. It should be printed on the back of the remote

fun fact: speaking of batteries.
the two remotes that come with it use single use lithium button cell batteries. I used to think his is a worse solution than Viper with teir rechargeable remotes.

however. compustar says the remotes are water resistsnt.
can confirm the are washer resistant. and drier resistant.

Bought this for my Lexus but gonna take it back. That shut off when the door opens is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as Lexus not including an auto start remote oem.

I bought one back in October when it was on sale. It works perfectly, no issues with battery drain and the BestBuy tech was awesome. He asked all the questions on how we wanted it to work (it can be configured different ways), explained everything thoroughly, walked me through it and said if we had any issues just give him a call or bring it back in. It's been working flawlessly since. The BestBuy service was the best service experience I've had in some time. It blew me away because I wasn't expecting it based on my experiences with BB service years ago.

I've even thought about getting one for my car even though I probably won't have it much longer.

Just wanted to add, we use it daily. Also, we can use the original fob by pressing sequences. For example, to start press LOCK UNLOCK LOCK and it remote starts.
