FYI, this CSX model with drone capability (phone start), was $280 1 year ago is lowest it's been according to previous SD posts.

The lowest the DC3 CS4905S-KIT ( aka non-CSX model) has ever been is $220, which was a day October 2023, which I got installed on my 2014 Toyota Sienna. It's been fantastic.

The non-CSX version doesn't get lower than this price though, but often dips down to $250. Make sure you order with the free harness though when you place the order. The guy told me so many times people don't do that and they have to reschedule the install and charge for it.

Here was lowest price for the non-CSX 2 remotes, 3+ mo ago in October. Just a data point if you're wondering how this price compares for premium drone capability.

Can I use this with my cars existing key fob?

If you get the seasoned installer @ bestbuy they will able to program it to work with your key fob ... Close>>>>> open>>>>> close(hold for 3 seconds) and start the car.

Installed in my 2011 highlander and still have the basic subscription for the last 2 years. Works great and the app works great too. This unit comes with only 1 of their key fob, the non-LTE version had 2 key fobs fwiw.

Our normal key fob will remote start by pressing lock 3 times.

To the folks with experience of Bestbuy installing these... if you have a key with a transponder, are they able to program then key too (i.e. pressing a sequence of lock, unlock, and lock activates the remote start)? I would hate to have to carry around this Compustar remote plus my with the transponder.

This is a great deal on a great remote start kit IF your car is compatible (I'd guess 90%+ are). My previous car and my wife's car have it and we love it. Drone Mobile is better and cheaper than OEM subscriptions.

Recently got a new car before winter, paid near full price because there were no deals, and BestBuy couldn't get it to work. It wasn't their fault, it was Nissan's. Wasted half a day, but got a full refund.

Yes they can program your KEYFOB. But it will only work as far as you can now unlock your door with the key fob.

Compustar remote will work for 3000 ft and tell you the car has started.

Is this kit/setup transferable to another vehicle in the future if I decide to sell my car?
Technically yes, but you would still have to have someone undo the install and change the wiring back to the way it was and then re-install it. I'm certain that best buy will not do that for you (at least not with posting their service tech the standard labor costs + parts).

Like someone else said your range would suck with the factory remote, but you could leave the Compustar remote at home and use your phone/watch to start your car if you pay monthly for Drone Mobile.

You can do this, I had it on my 2017 WRX with a manual. Some geek squad teams might refuse to do it if they don't understand the proper additional parts and programming you'll need for a manual car (you will need to buy additional parts beyond what's included in the kit).

What I will say is that it is not nearly as convenient for a manual car because there is an arming process. You have to put the car in neutral, pull the parking brake, and then take the key out of the car. The engine will keep running. Once you've opened the driver side door, exit, and shut the door again a countdown begins. The tech can set it how long it lasts, I think the longest is like 30 seconds? At the end of the countdown the engine will shut off and the car will lock all the doors. The remote start system is now armed and ready for use.

HOWEVER, if you unlock the doors and open ANY door (including passenger and rear doors) the remote start disarms itself and you need to start the car up and restart the arming process from the beginning.

The are other systems that have workarounds for this, but it's kind of a legal grey area since the procedure is a safety thing. Best Buy requires their installers to do this because otherwise somebody (including yourself) might go back into the car and put it into gear. Then you might use the remote start and your car might slam into somebody or pull out into traffic. The parking brake will help prevent this, but if you didn't know and kept trying the remote start when it fails then it could mess up your parking brake, clutch and/or starter.

In hindsight I don't think I would have gotten it. I think it cost me about $450 all said and done + $60 a year for drone mobile

Yes. They did for both LTE and non-LTE.

Can you install this with LTE module however only use remote start with key fob and not enable LTE/phone... is that possible?
Yes. The Drone/LTE service is not free. So you can still use the key fob. I believe the Drone unit uses an app on your phone, but that part I could be mistaken

To bad this remote starter won't work with BMW F15. Great price though.

last week I bought the non LTE version

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/comp...Id=6269220

now I would like to cancel it and buy this LTE version as both are same price.

So the old fob keys wont work at all right

Do any one know if it is a key start model, will the manual keys still work ?
Were you able to cancel ? I bought last week too the non LTE
I tried to cancel earlier this week when I heard that I needed to "sacrifice" 1 car key (technician need to wrap it up close to the module and let it always inside), also reducing the remote distance as well.

I chatted with CS agent and they told they couldn't cancel it for some reason and told me to wait until I get a pick up notification.
