Problem with that model is you have to manually engage dolby vision for each dics - totaly bonkers.
You don't think you will regret that decision as they censor, make unavailable and edit "politically incorrect" scenes out of all your digital content in the coming years?
Year ago I'd laugh at a dvd player. I pulled mine back out and cancelled all these streaming services.

I was about to pull the trigger but I see it's at $150 now. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe there will be a better deal in the future.

I've only ever had my X700M freeze on 1 disc in 5 years, and after I wiped the disc with an optical grade wipe, it kept playing fine. Keep justifying that $500 disc player to yourself though.

That's great you're one of the lucky ones.
BTW didn't pay $500, paid $375.

Oh I paid $150 for the 420 also.
Since you leave your DV on and you see no difference.
The 420 is the better buy since it still out performs the Sony with all 3 disc formats imo!

The best doesn't come cheap, you get what you pay for! 🤷🏻 ♂️

And are you a professional color grader? I've never noticed a difference with how few non Dolby Vision films I own and my 77" Sony OLED. Most TVs are already inherently inaccurate unless you spend hundreds on a professional calibration. Leaving DV doesn't break anything.
Yup, I had the same experience watching the same content on my TCL 5 series lcd. The colors and quality look the same as my Oled. Never noticed a difference. /s

What about a PS5? That plays them in HDR, right?

PS5 has Dolby Vision but does not use it for anything but gaming. Probably due to licensing, which is sad.
This is from memory, but the documentation mentions as much on their website. Same situation with Xbox Series X too.
