Tip: If you buy from Best Buy- add the plus membership to your order for $50. It'll extend your return period from 15 days to 60 for peace of mind in case the U8K comes back on sale or if you decide you just don't like it. You can cancel the membership within 60 days of purchasing it for a full refund.

They're offering free installation/wall mounting for these. Imagine that is useful w/ a TV this big!

If putting on a stand, you may want to check max weight supported. The 98" is around 125lbs and the 100" is around 138lbs.

Really tempting, especially with free hung up. Just wonder if the google system works OK on these TVs. Had really bad experience with google TV's system, but those are low-end TVs. Roku is much better.
to each his own... I've used nothing but google tv and had a good experience...roku is ok but im unable to get the full entertainment experience i desire...if you wanna buy everything you watch and pay pay pay...roku is great...if your very tech savvy google is the only real choice... Roku can't do what we want...but its pretty 👍

But you need to remember that the 100U76N is considered an entry level TV. I'm hoping that Hisense added the 256 zones for performance and not just specmanship. The 800 NITS is borderline for a TV. However, I hear your valid concerns.

The reviewers thought the 98S550G had acceptable performance, so I'm betting the performance will be acceptable and better than the S98550G though less than the 100U8K which was Hisense's previous entry level 100" TV. You also have additional 4% screen area and the ATSC 3.0 tuner.
At 800 nits HDR performance would be terrible. It's SOOOOO close and the price is also there. I just don't want to go through the trouble of being "almost there" with a TV I'll be stuck with for the next 5-8 years... Not going to lie, it was in my cart, PayPal 2 factor authenticated with the order now button staring at me... Final decision, it will be worth waiting another year or two for the mini-LED 115-120" units to come on sale in this range. My Sony 85" has my back until then. :-)

I did place an order for the 100U76N. The brightness is what's worrying me too. Hopefully someone will report in here on how it looks before my order is delivered. My 85 U8K is really good and I'm wondering how much of a step down the 100 will be.

Maybe 800 nits is low compared to high-end TVs, but at this size you have to compare to projectors, and this would blow the socks off virtually any projector in the HDR/contrast category. I'm very tempted, I'm just not sure it would actually fit in my basement, haha.

Yeah, I do a lot of gaming that uses HDR. If this was 1500+nit, I would have clicked that button...

I got a TCL R646, which everyone seemed to recommend but the software has some issues. Randomly quits the app like Netflix / Amazon Prime and goes back to the home screen.

If 100" TVs become the norm, movie theaters are dead.
I think overall ticket sales are down for the movie industry. Mainly inflated prices allowing new movies to break old records in terms of box office revenue. I think less people overall watch movies in theaters than in the past.

However, I can't see theater watching dying off completely. Unless you've got a dedicated theater room, you can't mimic the soundstage of a theater.

Yeah, I'm not comparing it to a projector. No comparison really.. I HAD a 120" projector that I removed after a couple years for the 85" Sony. I have ambient light issues in the theater. I need brightness. For me you don't start comparing to projectors until you are at least 120" screen size. 100" to me a modest upgrade to my 85" which was a modest upgrade to my 65" Plasma before that. I just tested projection in the middle... It failed and I can't hardly stand looking at a projection image anymore. No matter how nice you "Think" they are in your head, an absolute shit TV will outperform every day of the week.
