About this Game:
Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game set in a harsh wilderness two years after a devastating global pandemic.
Step into the dirt flecked shoes of former outlaw biker Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter trying to find a reason to live in a land surrounded by death. Scavenge through abandoned settlements for equipment to craft valuable items and weapons, or take your chances with other survivors trying to eke out a living through fair trade… or more violent means.
A striking setting: From forests and meadows, to snowy plains and desert lava fields, the Pacific Northwest is both beautiful and lethal. Explore a variety of mountains, caves, mines and small rural towns, scarred by millions of years of volcanic activity.
Amazing game that never got the attention it deserved. Shame the director turned out to be a prick
I've been playing video games for 40 years and consider Days Gone to be in the top ten of most fun games of all time. I beat it on PS4 but am thrilled to have a copy on PC. Thanks OP
Amazing game for sure. Especially on PC with elevated graphics over PS5 - made even better with mods both graphically and gameplay wise. I bought it around this time last year from a slick deals thread - I still play it to this day. Would gladly pay more had I known how much I'd enjoy it.
Very GPU bound game btw - I was able to play it for most of the year on a x58, 1st gen i7 (then later a cheap ebay xeon 5690) with a 6700xt at 1440p most settings on high or above. Avg 90fps in the forest, 60-70fps in the denser more complex towns. Of course it plays even better since my very recent CPU/mobo platform change but just the fact that it could even play on my old PC is amazing! Stable af too probably one of the best consoles to PC ports in recent history. Super alt-tab friendly. Probably the best behaved game I've seen regarding alt-tabbing out. Hundreds of hours, tons of mods, literally two crashes total. Anyway, if it weren't clear, I'm a fan. 😄

P.S. I love/hate when i run out of gas and need to to run looking for gas while beating myself up for not seeing for gas when I have a chance.
You literally need to look at the map and plan your trips where you will hunt for gas on your trips. I thought that was fun to do that to the players.
It helps to have some Windows OS knowledge but I feel it's still doable even your familiarity is more limited.
You'll have to get your mods on Nexus web page: https://www.nexusmods.com/daysgone/mods/
Most pages offering various mods will have instructions on how to install it already but it basically amounts to this if you stick to the "pak" version of downloads:
Hit the Windows Key + R on your keyboard and copy the pak files (the mods) you've downloaded to:
%LocalAppData%\BendGame\Saved\Paks
FYI - create a "Paks" folder if it's not there, mine wasn't.
So, to clarify, if it's not there, then its just Windows Key + R: %LocalAppData%\BendGame\Saved
Hit Enter, then create a "Paks" folder so it looks like the above as I initially said. Then dump the pak files you've downloaded into them - this is where your mods will reside. Don't want the mod anymore, simply delete them from this folder.
Now, inside your game install directory: Rename the "sfpaks" folder to "sfpakss" (or whatever you want to call it. It doesn't really matter as long as it's different than default). Mine is located here (yours will probably be something like this depending on what drive letter your steam library is located at): D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Days Gone\BendGame\Content
And you're done!
FYI, if the game ever gets updated, you have to rename the sfpaks folder again, but that's extremely unlikely to happen as the game is pretty much done getting updates and patches, sadly.
Fair warning, "sfpaks" folder that you rename is pretty big (15.6gb) and acts as some sort of game cache. So when you rename it, you'll have longer loading times as it will have to extract the necessary game content in real time. But it's nothing dramatic. I hardly noticed it even when my system was extremely old and outdated - it's a complete non-issue with current gen hardware. Have fun! 🤘
