Yup, you get to it right through the web interface, no special tools or Java versions needed. Earlier versions of Netgear switches required this crazy application to be installed it didn't work half the time. They've come a long way. I use these switches a lot. A lot of value for the price.
In the Amazon slides, it says "basic management". So I take it these aren't fully managed. So if I wanted a serious managed switch for a homelab, this might not be it. Makes sense given the price.
It does 802.1 q and you can individually power cycle Poe ports. It says it supports 802.1x but I've never set up a radius or tested it. So yeah if you need advanced Management stay away, if you just need VLAN separation then this is a perfect switch.
It says "GS308EP also includes basic and advanced network management features to help optimize the performance of business networks." But you're right though, I don't like the way they say basic, pretty lame marketing if you ask me. But like I say I've purchased four of these, and $60 is about right, for now but with multi gig out there these should be dropping way more
Thanks for the info!

Is 62W adequate enough for 4 cameras?
And sure I don't even have cameras at the moment - interested in coupling this wiith cameras - so any recommendations for cameras? Nightvision would be nice.
Thanks
Yes it will! Power only gets sent to devices that ask/negotiate for it. So there is no risk of frying your apple TV or other devices. Ensure the camera is 802.3af or 802.3at PoE and it will work perfect with this switch.

When you purchase the camera, look at how much they draw, it'll be listed for the camera. Just don't exceed that total budget. Other than very expensive or power hungry cameras you will not have a problem.
That gets deep real quick. If you want to record and store the footage from those cameras then you have to also consider what storage to use. One easy (but a little pricey) option is to go with Ubiquiti as the ecosystem. For just a few cameras around the house you would buy the cloud key Gen 2 plus (UCK-G2-PLUS) and put a hard drive in there. Then buy Ubiquiti cameras and adopt them from your cloud key. I run the G3 flex cameras at my house off of one of these exact switches. PM me if you get stuck. There are many ways to go, including standing up a blue iris instance on your network and recording using RTSP. Hopefully some other people can give you their ideas too

Interestingly, the price history doesn't go back far enough to show that this switch has been as low as $40 in May of 2023. At $40 it's a slickdeal, at $60 maybe hold off if need isn't immediate.
