how does this TV compare to the G3 for gaming?
Reviews between the LG G3, Sony A95L, and the Samsung S95C/S90C put Samsung as the winner in the gaming area due to its Game Hub feature and the 144Hz PC Gaming option. The Sony is dead last in terms of Gaming features but the Picture Quality and clarity of the games really pop with the XR Clear. The G3 has Dolby support which Samsung doesn't. So it comes down to asking if you have the money to burn to pay for the G3 or A95L? Are you gaming with a PC or a PS5/XBox? Do you care for the Game Hub features?

If I had a PS5 and money to burn I would go with the Sony A95L (Sony added some features to make the A95L and PS5 compliment each other. If I had an Xbox I would still prefer to go with a Sony A95L but really would just go with which ever of the 2 is cheaper, the G3 or the A95L. I prefer the Sony's XR Clear image processor and the QD-OLDED panel that it has though, so I would really just go for A95L instead of G3 at those price ranges.

However, I really can't justify paying that much money for the G3 or A95L when this Samsung S90C is way cheaper and also very very good in image quality. Also, by the time the G3 and A95L drop to this same price range, if they ever do, I know it will be another battler for myself to convince me to pull the trigger between those and whatever new models come out laugh out loudLMAO.

Just a quick follow up. I got over $100 bucks back in points using my perks at work login to go to Samsungs site where I purchased the S90C. Wasn't expecting anything there really. This is a heads up for anyone with Samsung EPP using perks at work.
I have perks at work but forgot about it. Usually they don't don't have good promos and that is why I usually don't check them out. Well, too late for me. I place the order already last week.

I really know nothing about perks at work other than that was how I got Samsung EPP. I hear ya. It's no big deal. Kind of how I felt about the 5% referral code not working. Overall excited for the tv. Been looking to upgrade for at least 1.5 years. I just need to figure out where to quickly spend the points haha.

I caved after reading about the brightness "mod" to match s95c. Mine gets delivered tomorrow. Fingers crossed there's nothing wrong with the panel. Coming from a TCL r625 65" which has been good for what I paid (~$500), but it crushes blacks and smaller highlights, as well as having very subpar viewing angles and reflection handling (in my experience). I'll be a nice upgrade in the bedroom over my old Vizio M50. Can't wait, and can't believe BB hasn't sold out of these yet!
What is the brightness mod? Mine is being delivered tomorrow and will be hooking up a Roku Stick to it. I will have a couple of days to play around with it before the Super Bowl. Interested to see how it compares to my LG C2.

So we have Xbox SX, PS5 and Im in the process of building a PC with either a 4080 super or 4090. Ive been leaning towards the G3 but so far, I havent seen it less than $2800. A $1K difference is pretty substantial if its only marginally better than this Samsung TV. Even if the G3 gets a blowout sale to make room for the 2024, will it even get down below 2500?

Doing that mod might void your warranty, just FYI.

How would S89C/S90C compare to QN90C (Neo QLED)? Where would one prefer QLED over OLED?

I saw a post in here (page 13 for me on mobile) that broke it down. I suggest searching for it and reading. Also check out rtings.com for the comparison. Basically the G3 is slightly better overall, but a lot more expensive

How would S89C/S90C compare to QN90C (Neo QLED)? Where would one prefer QLED over OLED?
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...shold=0.10

One would prefer the QLED if you watch a lot of content with static elements such as a news channel or nothing but sports. Also, if your room is bright, the QLED will be easier to watch.

That being said, I bought the 89C and it is plenty bright. I sit in a room with one big window on one side, two small windows in the back, and you can see the front entryway and the next room with windows from the couch on the side with the windows.

Sony A95L is the best looking one out of the 3. G3 follows the A95L closely behind thanks to MLA and the image processor. The A95L is brighter than the G3 thanks to QDOLED. Samsung S95C is brighter than the G3 since it uses QD OLED but doesn't look as good out of the box due to Samsung dropping the ball in the image processing area.

Consider that the S95C and A95L use the same Samsung QD OLED panel. Thus, the S95C is panel is capable of doing what the Sony does, it just that Sony drives it better. This is what kind of convinced me to pull the trigger on the S90C, with some tweaking you should get an image that is very close to the amazing G3 and A95L but for way less. I was also hoping that maybe Samsung could improve the image processing through a software update but those hopes went away with the announcement of the S95D. The S95D will be using a new AI driven image processor, thus whatever improvements they do over there can't be shared with the S90C.

I still think this deal is a great buy.

Slightly better for almost 2x the cost. I'd pick the S89/S90C anyway over the G3. If you do care about the absolutely best picture quality that money can buy, then skip the G3 and get the Sony A95L.

Like the other poster said, the main reason to chose the QLED instead of a QDOLED is burn-in. The QLED is less likely to get burn-in, if you are watching news, or gaming streams, or playing games for tons of hours everyday, or anything that has a static image your QDOLED will degrade significantly faster.

Brightness is the other factor, if you will be using in a room that gets a lot of sun light you might prefer a QLED, although with QDOLED in my opinion the brightness is good enough to be ok in a bright room.

The last factor to consider is if you are a hardcore gamer QDOLED has less latency than QLED but in my opinion you will only notice if you are very peaky or hardcore gamer.

Curious about this because they have different ratings on Rtings.com Confused
