This is my first Asus gaming laptop. My previous was an HP (1650), Dell G7 (1060) and Lenovo Y50 (860M). Armory crate was removed right away and replaced with ghelper. I disabled most of the asus bloatware and much of the w11 crap. You have to update the drivers.. the stock amd ones were buggy.

I don't have any of those issues. Every product has lemons. Look up iPhone with dead face ID, lines on screen and green screen.
Seen a few of these Asus on sale, but this one has 500 nits unlike last deal I saw. Great price. Usually hardware at this price is accompanied with terrible 300 nits 1080p monitors. Not this time!
always on sale for some reason and there is always a return or open box. Hmmmmm.....

Saw this bad boy at the store (before this sale) last weekend and it was really tempting. This laptop is really dense too, for its size. If it had a 4070, I would definitely pull the trigger at this price.

I ended up getting an Omen 16.1 with the 4070 for 1000 (Reg price 1800)

I have the Lenovo Slim Pro 14. Just got it yesterday. On the fence if I should get this. Same price (within tax for open box). Obviously this is better for gaming, Lenovo is better for general usage. Thoughts?
Well, based on the zephyrus g16 and legion 5 slim 16, both 2023, I prefer Lenovo. The main factor is software. Out of the box the legion uses less memory, runs fewer processes, roughly the same as the zephyrus with armoury crate gone and g-helper running. And though g-helper is impressive, the bios screwed with fan arc and power settings. I also don't like the functionality of my system relying on small third-party apps.

While Vantage doesn't let you adjust fans or power, the default profiles have kept temps lower than I had on my Zephyrus.

Asus' case is better designed, aesthetically, with better keyboard backlighting. The Lenovo's is fine, more basic, but the light indicator for sleep mode is covered by the screen when closed.

I didn't like that the zephyrus auto-hibernates in sleep after 1 hour, and while g-helper has a setting for it, I couldn't get it to work unless set less than 1 hour.

Anyone know if the laptop is entirely metal? If the frame has plastic the white will turn yellow after awhile...

Got this one and the HP Omen 16 Transcend, battery is much better on this after removing Armoury Crate (almost double the HP's) and difference in benchmarks is around 10%. Recommended.

Bought it open box in Best buy and tested in store. It had been used for 7 hours!

It's metal. Built like a tank. Absolutely loving it so far. Bought a BB OB "Excellent." Ran the tests and it was brand new, never powered on. No light bleed. None of the issues mentioned.

Installed GHelper, set the fans, undervolting to -15, etc. and just humming along.

Good to know!

I used hwinfo64 as someone suggested, and mine had 40hrs of usage...but that's after I was using it on/off for a week. Battery has 3% wear and it was manufactured in November.

That's awesome. I was REALLY on the fence about this and already had mentally committed to returning it after some complaints posted in here. Was even thinking about jumping back into a MacBook Air. But I have to admit - I think I'm in love with this thing which I cannot say I ever felt about my prior XPS 13. It's just damn fast, perfect size, gorgeous screen. Hope you enjoy yours!

I currently have this one and the f15. F15 runs great as smooth. Just made of cheaper material and the trackpad is annoying.

I like the quality of the g14. But it does running crazy hot out of box. I finally download ghelper and had it turn of all asus services and it helped. Any other running recs?

Also, noticed my nvidia gpu is only recognized by the righ side usbc. Think the left side might be the thubderport???

G14 is a tuners heaven, out of box so-so for the ordinary.

Damn, man. I just opened mine up. Looks great. Don't see any issues.

But.....this is replacing a nearly 6 year old XPS 13 that basically looks like it went through a war. Dropped it from 4 feet into a puddle on the street. Have spilled at 32 oz coffee mugs onto it at least 3x (probably a good 8oz of coffee at least in the damn thing) and it never missed a beat until my recent flight to Australia. I thought it was immortal, but it could have died on me any one of 100x prior to when it did.

Given that XPS's history and what you said here...now I'm worried! lol
That much abuse, might even need to go the other way to a Getac, Durabook, or Toughbook. Then run Hummers over them while they're in the mud all day long!

Mine isn't like that...79c limit for CPU/GPU, CPU UV, NO ARMOUR CRATE OR ASUS CRAP, W11 junk disabled. GPU is overclocked.
