Great deal. Been using this software a gazillion years, when it used to be called Taxcut. I need to have 2 states (NY and NJ) so this is how I did it. I downloaded the 1 file from Newegg's email. I made a copy of that file and put it onto another computer. Then I install (run) the file on the first computer, and downloaded NY, no problem. I went to the second computer, double-clicked on the file that was downloaded, did that installation (that is Federal only), and once that installed I picked a state of NJ. No issue at all. When I do NY returns, I work on one computer, and when I work on NJ returns, I work on the other computer. Been doing this a couple years with 2 states, only having to pay for one.

FYI, H&R Block has spent millions of dollars lobbying congress to keep our tax filing complicated to keep themselves in business (TurboTax too).

Sorry to hear that.

OPTION 1:
Download a State with the Deluxe you already bought will cost you $39.95.

OPTION 2:
Buy another Deluxe + State will cost you $17.99.

It looks like Option 2, buying a new Deluxe + State at the current price of $17.99 is the better option.

Did H&R not had ability to import PDF of W2 and 1099 INT? I thought they had it last year, I am not seeing it or am I wrong ? It's able to import some brokerage 1099 from Vanguard.

I think the online versions may do this, but not the desktop. However, you can connect to brokerages & banks to download 1099 forms in a structured format that should be even more accurate than importing a PDF. It used to require using your login and password, but that's no longer necessary with big brokerages at least (they use codes on the forms instead). My wife also has a W2 from her payroll company that could be imported using a code on the form, but it wasn't an option on mine.

Edit - I see that W2 PDF import is there now. I think the 1099 brokerage import feature is more useful though.

Yeah, this is what disqualified me from using the free option in CA as well. Really annoying that CA is one of only 2 states that don't allow the HSA deduction. When Alabama beats you to the punch on conforming, you've got issues

However, there is a bill making it's way thru the CA legislature to fix this, including making it retroactive for 2023. Other bills have tried and failed in the past, but this one seems to have gotten further as it already passed the Senate and is in the Assembly

I stumbled on this deal as I have a mailer from H&R Block with sale prices that expires 2/11. I was poking around the web and tried Newegg. Found these insane prices! thought I would try and post the deal here but did a search and see that there was an existing deal that is still active. But you've only got less than 3 hours left!

I just paid $17.99 for H&R Block Deluxe Fed/State at Newegg with a $22 discount. This is the download price.
