This is mainly for CLOUD gaming not steaming to your physical console. GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass, etc. Something that requires a bit of tinkering to kind of work on the SD.

I think coffee ice cream seems pointless. I just don't get upset when I see other people eating it. Perhaps what "seems" pointless to you or I might not "seem" pointless to another?

Not pointless, this device is lighter and much cheaper.
It's like saying a sedan is pointless comparing to big pick up truck

It is not pointless. But it isn't a good buy either. It is like you could buy a Toyota camry for 35k, however adding another 9k you could buy a BMW M3. It is no brain decision.

I need the community's help. I want a backbone/gamesir etc device that has the following:
1, either a solid screen or fits an iPhone with a case
2, has angled rather than mostly vertical (switch grip) handles (this looks to have vertical)
3, small size.
4, stream from PC and PS5
5, strong controls with good deadzones

The Kishi v1 seems to do everything except working with a case. This thing looks amazing but reviews say the sticks are terrible with dead zones that make driving unplayable and aiming likewise. Is there something out there that checks all my boxes?

Why not get a refurbished og steam deck for this price?
I have a SD and hasn't used it for ages.... I was looking to get a g cloud. The SD has horrible standby time. This has 2 things that a SD can't beat: weight & battery life. But at this price, it's still too expensive. I hope to get it used for around $150.

It can last 12 hours before needing a charge, can the SD do that?
Pretty much, yeah. I use mine with Chiaki (enables remote play for my PS5); while I haven't actually measured it the battery drains really slowly when you're not taxing the processor and GPU.

Maybe 12 hours is a stretch, but definitely at least 8 or so if you're just streaming from a console or whatever.

I don't know why you're defending this product so much. It is completely dumb at this price point. Maybe it would be worth it at $100 or something.

If you only care about cloud gaming, just get a controller for your phone or something. If you want a dedicated portable gaming device, you can find a used steam deck for about the same price. I got mine for only $250. When streaming from pc or ps5, the steam deck uses very little power and can last 7-8 hours.

This product is just overpriced for what it is.

I don't know why you are attacking a product you pretend to not care about.

Not every use case aligns with yours.

Yes, buy something to jerry rig my phone so I can have a lackluster experience. Heck, with that logic...why buy a Steam Deck..."just get a controller for your phone or something." Maybe purpose built devices work better and are worth an extra $100-500? The Steam Deck is and you seem to agree. Odd, right?

BTW, copied from above: "IMO those are all horrible in comparison to this, at best a bucket of compromises. Floppy, need to assemble every time you want to play, kills your phone battery, normally does not work when you have any case, hard on your phone, still requires many apps to get kinda working, not a single streamlined device, smaller screen, etc"

Or perhaps we'll wait for someone to invent "or something!" Wait, that is exactly what this is LMAOLMAOLMAO

Again, completely different use case. 'If you're hungry, drink some water' is equally good advice.

And if you really cared what I thought you would have read I own a Steam Deck OLED. I owned an OG Steam Deck before that. Both purchased the second they went on preorder.

Why buy a Steam Deck? "Just get a controller for your phone or something." (that aged poorly, didn't it?)

And ...you have no idea what cloud gaming is.

So don't buy it, just don't throw tantrums when others do.

BTW, the ASUS ROG Flow X13 is "just overpriced for what it is" but you are ranting about it...."jUsT BuY A ChRoMeBoOk oR SoMeThInG" comes to mind. Why do you 'need' a $700 ROG Flow when you can just remote play to a $80 netbook? See how that logic works Wink

The point is: is Logitech G a good cloud game device? Yes, it is. Is it worth $239? No, it is definitely not. Period.

Steam Deck OLED is obviously a more capable device but it also starts at more than 2x the price of this so the comparison is indeed odd.

For the price (on sale), this isn't that bad of a deal. It streams better than a SD can, or at least with less tinkering. SD does not have native support for GeForceNow for example. SD can emulate higher end systems like the Switch (some games) but in reality you could just buy a Switch AND this G-Cloud and get the best of both worlds.

And saying "then you have to buy the Switch games" isn't a good argument because you're not supposed to acquire them without buying them anyway.

As for AAA PC games, yeah the SD OLED can play some natively while this device can't but your YMMV big time there. I don't personally consider 25-30 fps in CyberPunk 2077 to be a good playable experience. I'd prefer to just shell out for a month or two of GeForceNow and play it on there if I owned the game anyway.

This device has a market and it isn't trying to compete with the Steam Deck OLED.

Not worth it...to you. "Period" LOL. Odd you don't see the difference there.

Heck, I bet you spend a lot of money on nonsense I wouldn't agree with. $7 cups of coffee, $500 vacuums, etc Your latte is gone in 60 seconds but god forbid I drop $240 on a gaming device I might spend 1000 hours using. Hope you can still sleep tonight knowing a stranger doesn't require your approval to spend their own hard earned money. I'll even let you buy that coffee without offering judgement Wink

I only have the experience with backbone, got the deal at $49. Played one hour and returned. The conclusion is it is not designed for phone with case, the graphic is weird Since the orgianl graphic is 16 to 9, it is stenched to 16 to 10 to fit the screen of phone. All in all, the experience is not good.

For people saying just strap your phone to one of those backbone devices instead, I tried that and it is not a great experience.

1) Most cases don't fit so unless you run a naked phone you have to remove the case every time you want to play

2) You now don't have use of your phone unless you want to keep exiting out of the games to answer messages/calls

3) Your phone battery is draining, related to point 2. You basically are eliminating your phone.

This device lets you play ergonomically all while still having a fully functional phone

Amen, I owned a Razer Kishi v2. It worked but, in comparison, to a purpose built device was horrible for all the reasons you mentioned plus a few others (screen size, ergonomics, not wanting to install shady 3rd party apps on my main communications device, etc). I guess if you have to live off $1 value meal burgers it is better than nothing but if I can afford a real meal...I'll gladly pay a little extra for something I can enjoy. That is what gaming is about, enjoyment after all.

Also, I found the Razer Kishi would cause a lot of wear on the phone as well being there was so much flex as it did not sit solidly on the phone. The controller came with some adapters to fit "most phones" but apparently my no name Motorola* was just too weird. Wink

*I did end up 3D printing an adapter but not everyone has the skills or 3D printer to do such a thing.

Yep, and once aspect ratio is fubared then your screen gets even SMALLER. Not worth the bundle of compromises (for me) unless you just cannot own more than one game playing device.
