It's the same price at Amazon and Crutchfield too. This $200 price seems to be as good as it's been for this model since 2022. Best Buy is also shipping (for free) Open-Box Excellent models for $165.

Perhaps you haven't heard of streaming? Wink I would be willing to bet the vast majority aren't buying discs and are instead watching their 4k via streaming. Those major retailers didn't stop carrying 4k BR players because they were selling well!
Streaming is garbage.

No there is not.
That's crazy. A Dolby Vision license is $250?

Yes, but modern compression is pretty incredible. The best 4k streaming content can look great: depending on the scene and what you're watching it on. I've seen reviewers watching a movie purchased via Apple store vs 4k disc - and they said there was barely a difference.

I'll personally take a 1080p Blu-ray over "4k" streaming any day; and sound is more important to me personally. Hell -- I'll even take a 15gb h265 file over what most providers call "4k streaming."
No. Streaming compression is good when used appropriately. Very few services do that. To my knowledge, only Bravia Core and Apple TV are anywhere near the bitrate of physical media. Everyone else is trash.

If you got the money, Kaleidoscape is the best streaming, sometimes better than physical 4K, in terms of bitrate. They have a few movies bigger than 100GB.

My "open box excellent" unit arrived in what I would describe as less than excellent. Maybe good but not excellent. The dummies even shipped it in the factory box without any extra protection. Hooked it up and it wouldn't play any of my DVDs or BluRays. Not a single one. Latest firmware was installed and verified via the network connection. Did a factory reset to no avail. Tried it on an old Panny plasma and disconnected the internet from the unit. Still got the "disc incompatible" message. Returned the unit to my store and I'm pretty sure they now have it listed for sale as "open box fair".

Anyone else have any issues?

Sorry to hear yours had issues. My "open box excellent" arrived double boxed (but not with a lot packing material in the outer box). My unit looked like-new but you could tell it had been used because the batteries and power cable weren't wrapped tight like you see from the factory. So far mine has been good playing 4k and BR movies. It does seem slower (than my 4k Sony player) to initially read movies, but that is normal from what I read.

You should go in your store and ask them to hook up the "fair" unit to show you it really works. Smilie
