Dont be fooled by the processor name, the Ryzen 5 7520U is Mendocino, its only 4 cores and based on the very outdated Zen 2 architecture (2019) and has a pathetic 2 CU's (GPU cores). Performance is quite poor and really should be in $250 laptops at most. You'd be better off getting an i5-1235U for considerably more performance or i3-1215U for more performance while still being cheaper.

AMD purposely changed their naming scheme recently to get away with selling these deceptively bad mobile CPUs.

It's true that it's old but that does not necessarily mean that the CPU is bad - it's plenty for most people. This CPU is just a rebranded Ryzen 3 5300U. It's WAAAAAAAY ahead of a Celeron.

It's the integrated GPU that sucks hard. Do not let the RDNA2 branding fool you, it's a huge downgrade from the 5300U's Vega 6

So that's why they don't call it a "Ryzen 7" in the description.

Putting a "7" at the beginning of the model number is deceptive right away.

Totally agree that AMD pulled a fast one with this naming scheme, but a small correction: Zen 2 was introduced on laptops with the Ryzen 4000 series, which came out in the spring of 2020, not 2019.

This "Ryzen 5" actually performs worse than a Ryzen 3 from 2021.

Wish I would have bought an extended warranty for my refurb Acer via Ebay. Screen started flickering into the 3rd year. Will stick with Asus from now on, have never had an issue with their tech.
