Again, I remind folks (Gateway from Walmart) that there are numerous problems with them espoused here on SD , those bought in last couple years. After 13-1/2 months, my screen came loose from the lid (never left my den & never treated harshly). Gateway said tough titty when I called. I'm far from the only complaint about this. Caveat emptor.

Gateway name was sold to a foreign company. This is similar to RCA, Westinghouse, Kodak, etc. Brand recognition but not the same quality.

The old Gateway company is gone. A cheaper Chinese company owns that name for a good while now. The new company makes some pretty good budget gaming laptops. But keep in mind Gateway means very budget level. Plus last I heard is to stay away from their desktops though.

Interesting as this is an Intel Xe with 80 EUs so this is suitable for step up light gaming.

Looking at reviews, looks like you're taking a fair risk with quality.

The 11th gen Intel mobile processors are super feeble.

Could easily use this as a plex server that can transcode 4k on the fly.

Point it to a NAS share with your media, and you're good to go.

Whatever specs are avoid those "gateway" at all cost. Poor quality, zero longevity, nonexistent customer service. Overall feels like cheap disposable junk. An unworthy Chinese company is parasitic on a once strong brand.

Oh hell no, a Gateway? From Walmart? You're better off burning money than buying this massive piece of e-waste

Despite the bad comments, I bought one of these refurb'd over a year ago and use it sporadically when travelling. It's held up well, and I could complain less at this price. It has trouble going to sleep sometimes, but otherwise works great - the USB-C port also supports PD charging and DP out.

Bought a "Gateway" before the pandemic with a 2060 in it and it's still running strong today for my brother as a travel gaming laptop for his job.

Got a similar gateway for my FIL a couple of years ago. He doesn't take it anywhere, just uses it at home. The hinge broke after a little over a year.We just ate the cost and got a different laptop.

I was originally impressed at the price, but the quality ended up being severely lacking.

bought this new christmas 13 and a half months ago when it was on clearance

I been happy with it so far. Not sure if I recommend it though as a refurb at that price, yet I have no real complaints.
