Be gentle, my first deal posted.

Was at the local Home Depot in SoCal looking for wire connectors. Oddly, there were some in aisle 15, but the website said aisle 13. There were a bunch more there. So they have these in two different locations in the store. (Maybe different types of wire connectors?)

Anyway, these are similar to the Wago, these are In Sure and they had 10 packs of the 2 port, 3 port, and 5 port with yellow tags.
In-sure 2 pt lever wire conn, 10/bag $1.93 was $7.48
In-sure 3 pt lever wire conn, 10/bag $2.23 was $8.46
In-sure 5 pt lever wire conn, 10/bag $2.83 was $10.98

I did not check brickseek, but the HD website does not show them on sale.
Oh, the yellow label had a date of 11/27/23, not sure what that date is for.

Comparison of Wago and In-Sure along with wirenuts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hsMTklDgd0

Summary: the In-Sure actually has a little more resistance than Wago, but a little better hold on the wire.
Mixing stranded and solid does indeed seem to be one of the "killer applications" that comes up particularly with some lamp fixtures and quite often with ceiling fans. I'm aware of tips/techniques for mixing stranded and solid when using wire nuts (generally trying to make sure the stranded makes it into the spring by "leading" the solid) but this option is so simple and should leave little worry about technique.

Anyone bumping into aluminum branch circuit wiring should skip the IDEAL purple wirenuts hanging nearby these lever connectors and pick up some AlumiConn connectors (also, fortunately, in the same section at HD). The bad news is that you're going to have to make a one-time purchase of a torque screwdriver (usually in the range of $30-60). The good news is that you'll sleep easy about your aluminum wiring connections. Though not as simple as these IDEAL lever connectors, the connections using an AlumiConn are similarly satisfying vs. the unknowns of what's under a wire nut (and completely avoid the insomnia you might develop around galvanic corrosion [wikipedia.org]).

Good luck!
Jon
I certainly hadn't realized IDEAL was making lever connectors (I was more familiar with their push-in poroduct... which I typically ignore). These are indeed probably a nice buy.

To be fair, IDEAL makes a lot of things at Home Depot, plenty of which don't even carry the IDEAL branding. They were the ones actually making the light bulbs Home Depot sold under Cree branding.

Good luck!
Jon

Push in, these are like $10 at home depot regularly, not the same as the lever type.

Don't waste your time at the City of Industry, CA Home Depot. Brickseek showed 4 available but all gone.

Never used these but a huge fan of the Wago. Use them for any electrical project in lieu of wire nuts.

I won't do any electrical projects around the house without these. I can't count how many boxes I've open up for one reason or another and just touch the wire nuts and they fall off.

I noticed Home Depot started to carry Wago Lever nuts. I think it's a better product.

I was doing some electrical work in my house, but was really nervous about whether I was doing a good job.

Then I opened one box up and on one of the connections, the builders' wire nut had completely fallen of. It was just sitting there on the bottom and the wires were poorly twisted above it.

Good job guys! You gave me confidence in what I'm doing!
The "electrician". was probably the dudes kid, cousin, or relative. I have seen many times the contractors untrained helper doing electrical work. Building inspector hopefully looked at a couple of junction boxes before the house was finished.

Old school folks used to use electrical tape around the boxes and wire nuts.

Found 50 packs of the 3-connector. Didn't come up in zebra or at register. Got 2 packs for $12 🤷

Shows "clearance" on BS, but in electrical aisle shows full price.

Will it scan at lower price and is there a way to check during shopping (using HD app?) ?

I went to my nearby Home Depot today and these rang up at full price, so I put them back.
So mine will ring full price too if it shows full price in the electrical aisle where I see them. Will check and report back.

Wago are more of a consumer thing IMHO, because they are indeed more $$ than wire nuts. The more junctions you need to make, the more it makes sense to use wire nuts as the cost differential will really add up.

That said, as a homeowner I have shifted to using Wago whenever I am doing basically anything. So much less of a hassle than twisting a bunch of wires in a wire nut and hoping the connection is solid. The connection also takes longer to complete (time wise).

In particular Wago are very handy for installing light fixtures and other prewired items like smart switches and the like, because those items tend to use stranded wire which wire nuts usually can have issues with. with lever nuts it makes no difference the style or size of wires that you're mating together.
