These units are so far superior to older AC technology.....it's an absolute game changer.
What I REALLY wish is that they would discount the units that have heat pump capability. I have two of them as well and would buy one more. It's amazing the amount of heat they can put out per watt, as compared to resistive space heaters.
It is predicted to be in the mid to upper 80's already next week down here in south Texas. I hope I don't have to install them already.
Mold? I didn't have any issues with that. On humid days, the AC can pull enough water out of the air that the water pools up in the outside portion of the AC. Some people would drill drain holes in the unit, but I just folded up a paper towel into a strip and tucked it between the fins and the case so it wicks the excess water out of the unit and into a bucket or onto a thirsty plant. Works great.

The graph below shows when the A/C turned on at 8:45pm by the scheduler app and jumped a little over 200W. It was a cool day and the room started at about 72 and dropped to 69 in about 5 minutes. The fan slowed down (see the drop where it says -148W) and will continue to cool the room to about 67.5.

this is a bit wrong, they ramp the wattage up according to how hot it is and how hard theyre working. they can ramp quite high, off the top of my head 880+ watts according to a guy on yt running it in 108 degree heat, with the 8k unit. obviously the 12k can go even higher. a youtbe comment claimed up to 1168 watts in 105 temps with the 12k for example. but, these are worst case scenarios it seems to stabilize lower?
i figure a space heater draws 1500 on high so should be ok for one breaker provided you dont run too much else.

These have a CEER of 15 If your Central AC is new(er) then it's not much less efficient than these things.
Only benefit to this is that if you only use the few rooms where these are located then you can maintain the house at a higher temp.
Whole house comfort is MORE important (to me)than the potential $10 savings.
These are great for power failures and or Unit failures.
Unit failures? Yes, that was a factor in me getting these. I've got a older AC unit, and having something to take the edge off a hot day in case the central AC breaks is a plus.

One is all rusted on the outside but have not noticed any mold.
But I happen to think GE has the better design

Cold does come in through it as it has an opening for water to drain out from the front which in turn lets cold air in. It isn't enough for me to worry about since it helps balance out the heat from my radiators in the winter.
